Coming to kalkan with small children
« on: June 24, 2008, 10:26:46 AM »
Hello,

we are having a week in Kalkan in July with 2 girls aged 7 and 6 - we used to be regular visitors before the children and wondered what kind of things they would like to do? They are pretty strong swimmers ..

We''ve got an apartment to give us a bit more freedom.

Cheers

You could try the watersports at Kaputas Beach. The water trampoline''s a good choice  :)

Kalamar Beach Club, at Kalamar Bay has the water trampoline, unless things have changed the last 5 days.  Having said that Kaputas beach is beautiful.  I prefer getting a boat for the day and swimming in from offshore. It beats the something over 200 steps down to the beach from the road. Have a great time though   Bill

Hi Yelkenite  - when you say get a boat for the day to Kaputas, is this a day trip from the harbour that stops off at various bays or is a boat you hire / pilot yourself ?

It can be part of one of those day trips you arrange from Kalkan harbour.  Kaputas isn''t far even by sea and you can do an exaggerated tour around Kalamar bay and a bit more besides; Mouse island etc.  It''s just as far as Kaputas is concerned I prefer to escape back to the boat and shade and catering than is available on Kaputas itself  i.e. little to none so I understand.

Here are some suggestions based on what my 5 year old likes.
Kalkan beach because of the local children, she also takes a few stones back to our villa and paints them.
Patara beach for the sand.
Boat trips with swimming & lunch etc
Playgrounds (one in centre of Kalkan, one at top of Kalkan).
Kalamar beach club - water trampoline, Windsurfing, Water-skiing, Ringos/Donuts, Parasailing, Jet-skiing, Sea Canoeing, Pedaloes.
Saklikent, Tlos & Yakapark
This tour takes you into the Taurus mountain range with its fresh springs cascading to the plain below. Travel down the river on a giant inflatable rubber ring, followed by a mud bath. Or go to the gorge on your own they will enjoy walking through it, climbing over rocks, getting muddy!
Horse riding at Patara beach.
Canoeing down Xantos river
Sea Kayaking at Kekova
This is a great way to see the sunken city of Kekova and experience sea kayaking.
Greek Island of Meis (Castellorizo)
Meis Island known as Castellorizo by the Greeks is only 20 minutes away from Kas town. Meis has remained untouched by tourism still protecting its charm and beauty of a small Greek Island. Tours to the Island are available almost everyday from Kas.
Atlantis restaurant has a pool, so you can have a leisurely lunch whilst the kids eat and then play in pool.
Wishing you a great time!
