Why is it that every time a thread gets interesting or a little near the bone it gets shut down or locked or moved to the cupboard under the stairs. It may be that Bryher is not your cup of tea, but you can''t just close a thread because he wrote some strong words. I don''t agree with him though i am getting a residency this year and i to don''t want to see little Britain in Kalkan not "K" and please don''t call me a Kalkanite it sounds like something out of Superman. Maybe it''s time for a section for people that do live here and not just own or holiday here then things could be aired out on a separate line. If we lived in Fetiye then it would be a lot more expensive to travel to Rhodes or kas and people would be more inclined to purchase a residency, but i see no moral reasons for doing so i am not an illegal i don''t work here and i don''t rent properties out in this country and have the proceeds paid into a British bank account. I don''t pile money into Turkish bank accounts and transfer the interest out of the country. I earn my money abroad bring it here to spend then go earn some more. So please don''t say i have a moral duty to purchase a residency and tell me that i am robbing the Turkish economy when my money comes in not out. Please let this thread run after all if people don''t like the content they don''t have to read it but i bet they do.

Of course people read the contents of threads, how on earth can they have an opinion or make comment if they don''t, then they have a choice as to whether to continue reading it.

Its not the subject of the Thread that causes the problems but the very bombastic, irrelevant and some times mindless replies that go on them and of late rudeness of which there is absolutely no excuse.

I would like to point out that I did not "lock" the previous thread on this topic. I asked if people wanted it to contine.
I have no objections to adults having debates or heated discussions on the forum as long as they are meaningful and do not descend into slanging matches, personal or rude jibes etc. and are carried out within the rules of the Forum.
I would also like to point out that there is a "Victor Meldrew" Thread specificaly for moans, rants and grouses!!!!!
