Hello all.

***stands up***

My name is Jamie Sains and I am a Kalkanaholic!!!

***sits down***

It is true after visiting last year for the first time, and have been visiting these pages ever since reading reviews and looking at pictures etc dreaming of when I may return! However, unfortunately my girlfriend recently has had an accident whilst doing gymnastics and injured her ankle to the point where she has been on cruthches for 3 months and is currently recovering from an operation (albeit well).

Although, a full recovery is expected we don''t think she will be well enough to tackle heart attack hill quite yet, or the numerous steps at the patara prince  :( :( :( :(

so we were wondering if anybody has been elsewhere that could even come close to Kalkan that is a little flatter?

A friend recommended Dalyan.

Thank you in advance for your recommendations.

Jelous of everyone that is off to Kalkan in the summer!!

 >:D Jamie,
after a lot of thought and realising that you are obviously very disappointed may I make a suggestion;I am 59 and have spent my life giving sound advice and am sure I have come up with a solution for you.

Dump her and get together again when you get back home !

Pleased to have been able to assist,
                                                Phillip.

I the only other place that I have enjoyed as much as Kalkan is Turunc - very friendly and smaller than Kalkan.  Good bars and restaurants and when you get there, no steep hills.

Turunc is nice flat but still with the mountains in the backdrop, Gocek, but you may struggle for the beach unless she can hop in the water taxi and the bonus is less than 1/2 hr from the airport. Oul Deniz itself is flat a bit more touristy but not tacky. We are great lovers of Kalkan but giving Akyaka a go along with Turunc this time, Aykaka looks flat but as yet not been. Sure you will love most of this area, just avoid in my opinion the big hot spots where the bigger travel agents travel too.

Turunc supposed to be a mini kalkan but flatter..personally I still prefer Kalkan - but after dumping your girlfriend for the duration of your kalkan visit - turunc is probably the next best alternative..!!   ;D ;) ;D ;)

I went to Turunc about 4/5 years ago & thought it was not a patch on Kalkan. The beach is quite narrow & the chairs are pretty crammed in. Also, you get the day trip boats from Marmaris stopping for swim stops & boy, do they play loud music & have some peeps with loud voices on. The food was not anything like as good as Kalkan either.  Friends, who love Kalkan, couldn''t come one year owing to mobility problems & went to Akyaka & loved it.

I agree Turunc is not a patch on Kalkan. Not in the same league!!

Also, I was wondering if anybody knows if there is a ''Patara Prince'' type comples anywhere in Dalyan??

Thanks again!!  ;D ;D ;D

****UPDATE****

Well I''ve decided not to dump my girlfriend!!

We researched Dalyan and actually were 5 mins away from booking but as we were processing it kind of just felt so so wrong. Sacreligious if I may!! As though I were being unfaithful to a loved on!!

So...........

We just booked flights to Dalaman leaving on 24th July and returning 9th August for £232 each with onthebeach.com.

Woohooo!!

we''re staying at the Patara Prince again.

Can''t wait.

See you all there!!
