Went to the one above Deli Deli (up steps at the side of the post office) but didn''t like it at all.  Can''t remember if it''s Doyum or Odak.  (I think Doyum) Actually it''s the only meal I''ve ever had in Kalkan that I didn''t enjoy, the others in the party also felt the same.  Needless to say we ain''t been back!

We''ve been to Doyum a few times and always enjoyed the food. In April we had a lovely Meze.

Go back 3 years to the Tomato then it was good now only cicek is good there it''s "near''e hide nor hair", it''s like a cafe that wants to be a restaurant when it grows up.

We went there before the meet-up a couple of weeks ago because we wanted a quick no-nonsense meal.  The food was perfectly good and the service prompt & friendly.  Obviously it doesn''t have the ambience of other Kalkan restaurants but it doesn''t have the price either.

In contrast we''d been to Ibo that night before and were less than impressed by the service received (food was good though),  think they were still trying to find the right staffing levels for the beginning of the season. To that end we have given them the benefit of the doubt as they have a good reputation! Makes you realise how finely balanced it is for a restaurant to provide the customer with an ideal experience and how they can easily have an off night.

Didn''t get up to Doyum but found Odak to be really friendly and the food was excellent.  In fact when we were heading back on one of the colder windier nights they "dragged" us in for a free warming neat raki!

Adrian.

Never tried the Doyum, but I think the Odak is next door. Excellent food there and great prices. Went there twice last year. Going to Kalkan in 2 days.

Hi KalkanPosh
Tomato is run by 2 Turkish guys, one of whom has an English partner, a blond lady (can''t remember her name), but all of them really nice, very friendly. You don''t have to have anything to eat, they''re quite happy if you just want to have a drink and a natter. Having spent quite a bit of money doing the place up the year before, they have a new chef who started in April this year and the food is much better than last year.
As Blue Lizard said it doesn''t pretend to be anything than what it is - a very good cafe, but it is a bit smarter than Ali Baba''s and for lingering, the surroundings are a little nicer, including the loos as mentioned by Em1!

Tomato is one of those all day cafes. They do very good breakfasts, Turkish and English ( imported bacon)They usually have a set menu for dinner, very good value and nice food. For the evening they change the tablecloths, light the candles, casual atmosphere. Its relaxed and friendly.

Have been going to Kalkan for 10 years now and have tried many as you can imagine. Deli Deli Tomato may not look as grand as some but the food is superb. As they are open all day they do have quiete a mix of food but in the evening it does lend more to Turkish flavour.

It is actually run by the English woman whose name is Kathleen and the 2 Turkish men and in my view has largely helped it become a very nice restaurant. Great people watching place :)
