Barbecue's
« on: June 03, 2008, 11:33:57 AM »
Where is the best place to buy a barbecue?  How much would we expect to pay?

Thanks.

Try the Thursday market - there is a hardware wagon at the intersection of the main thoroughfare and the hill up to the fruit and vegetables.
He is quite cheap and will also make you one if you want something different - larger etc etc

If you have a turkish friend - ask them to get the blacksmith to make you one - we had a large industrial sized one made for about 40ytl about 2 years ago...it is big enough to do a party of 20 people without cooking 2 kebabs at a time..!!  ;)

Hey - no problem John - just as long as you can do the bbq-ing....we are too used to nice gas bbq''s that you just light and cook and our firemaking - with old fashioned things such as newspaper, wood and bricquettes - skills went out with the ark..!!  We''ll get that date..!!   ;D ;D ;) ;)

well I''m not trying to muscle in here but I cooked a BBQ for me and Rosib on Saturday and she said what a wonderful job I''d made of it. Really she did!  haha   you provide the raw materials and I''ll sort it!   Bill (Demis Roussos lookalike! lol)

Word to the wise for all you fellow owners.. if you rent out your apartment/villa, be VERY careful about providing bbq facilities for your customers. We did...

.... and we ended up having to repair fire damage to the wooden door leading the balcony of our apartment. Presumably I don''t need to spell it out, but let''s just say our guests for that week had the bright idea of lighting the bbq within two feet of the door. On a very breezy day, apparently  ::)

We did toy with the idea of doing that, but to be honest they were so apologetic we didn''t have the heart to do it! ::) Actually, to answer Jayne''s question - no, we haven''''t. Apart from the BBQ incident, the only other loss we have experienced was a broken glass... hardly a hanging offence - but then we are pretty careful who we let in!!!

We also haven''t had to withold a deposit. Guests seem to respect the quality of the apartment and we have had no damage done.

Likewise - I have not withheld any security deposit from any guests - the visitors we get respect the quality and fixtures and fittings of our villa - and as MartynE rightly points out - we too are careful who we ''let in''  :o :o  but I don''t want to reopen a thread on this again - don''t want it to get out of hand..!!   :o :o  Broken glasses and bits and bobs like that are to be expected - boy - even I dropped a glass last week and a wine glass cracked in the dishwasher.....must learn how to load it better.....I have never come across such an awkward to load dishwasher...!!

We have always had lovely guests stay in our apartment and have never had any damage. In fact the only crockery and glasses that has been broken, has been by us! Ooops.
