Best beach with a toddler
« on: May 22, 2016, 08:57:47 PM »
Hi all, which beach do you recommend for a 15 month old, Kaputus or Patara? we want to take our little one to the beach with nice sand and so she can paddle. I don't think Kalkan beach with all the pebbles will cut it this time, it was fine last year as she just stayed in her pushchair but not anymore!
Ta ;D

oh and only 15 sleeps to go  ;) ;D 8)

Definitely Patara. Soft sand & shallow water, just beware as there's usually a breeze which hides the strength of the sun. Kaputas is more stoney and a steeper entry to the water.

That sounds ideal, is there anywhere to get a drink/eat and parasols/sunbeds? Thank you

Try looking at KTLNs information on beaches at:

It probably has the answer to most questions, including the drone video.

Yes, Holidaylover28, there are lots of beds and parasols at Patara and a little cafe, toilets etc. Best thing about Patara for little ones is waves that can be jumped ;D
Just take care with the sun, as kalkan regular says its deceptively hot here.
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Also Kaputas has a couple of hundred steps to negotiate. Not easy with a toddler, let alone bags, buggy etc. so another vote for Patara from me. Check the flag to see if its safe (it will be flying on the lifeguard stand) and just be safety aware as there are potential rip tides and strong currents while swimming at Patara but obviously she will be fine with supervision at the waters edge.
It's a lovely beach with a refreshing breeze and a decent hut for refreshments and changing/toilet facilities. There is quite a walk down the boardwalk to get there and no shade (apart from odd overhanging trees) until you get to your sunbeds and parasol or use the beach hut.

If you get chance try and get to the dunes too, even if it's only to look at them. They took my breath away.  :)

Not sure when you are going Holidaylover28, but the sand gets very hot in high season, as in...take the skin off your feet hot  :o
