Boat Hire £200 For The Full Day All In??
« on: July 01, 2013, 12:03:47 PM »
Friends have just returned from Kalkan and told us about a boat they hired for the day (can't remenber the name) for £200 all drink and food included and said they had a fantastic time. we are two families travelling out in just less than two weeks, four adults and six children ranging from 5 to 17. Any one been out on one? Or one to recommend?

£200 seems quite cheap for a private boat hire we hired the "Kartel" for the day in May and it was 700 tkl for the day but what a day!! We sailed at 10.15am he took us to 3 beautifull days for swimming and fed us a fantastic lunch at the second bay, fruit & Tea and cake at the last bay and sailed back into Kalkan around 5.30 with us all truly chilled out.
The boat is imaculate (including the loo) and they could not do enough for us. They take twelve people and have 12 sun beds, there is shade at the back of the boat where lunch is served.

We will be doing the same trip again in September

Actually, £200 is not that cheap... there are a few that you can hire for 400 TL (at current exchange rates that's about £140). If you pay per person on a public trip it's normally 50TL each. So if there are more than 8 of you, it works out cheaper to hire the boat for the day.

We've been on Sunsets 1,2 and 3, Yildiz, Sea Bella, Moby Dick, Falcon.... the boats are all pretty much the same standard, as competition is so fierce. Basically you can't really go far wrong... personally I'd suggest strolling along the harbour one evening when the boats are all in dock, have a chat with some of the crews (who are normally playing backgammon and having a drink on deck most evenings) and book one for a few days later.

like I said, whichever one you choose you probably won't be disappointed with the experience.

For private hire I can recommend Zeus, this year Ali has replaced his older Zeus that could take up to 8 persons with a larger boat (still called Zeus) he can now take up to 12 . on my villa website (see below) go to the links page and you will find a link for further details of Zeus including photos. during peak season it can be best to book boat trips in advance especially for private hire as they do get booked up.  8) 8)
I have a very responsible position...

We always take the Sunset boats because the captains are very nice, the food is excellent, better than on most of the boats, and if you take Sunset 1 (up to 10 guests), Capt Ahmet is charming and speaks good English.

Hi Seanie Prawnie, I'm not sure if the price of drinks would be included in the total price - it's always been inclusive of the food and tea and coffee, but soft drinks and alcohol in our experience have always been extra.

You've had some good advice already and I've not much more to add really. We have done private hire on Pina -x and could not fault it. We've also been on pina -x1 and yildiz 3. They are all an extremely good day out and to be honest I'd find it hard to choose between them.

Another recommendation for Zeus.  Captain Ali will be brilliant with the kids.  He has a selection of fishing and snorkelling equipment on board and will probably go spear fishing to catch something extra for lunch.   Been going wout on Zeus for more than 12 years and it is still the highlight of our holidays in Kalkan.  The small boat was great, his new boat for this year is fab - looking forward to being on it again next week.

Hi,

You can also have a boat trip in Kaş area and there are much more things to see in Kaş Archipelego.
