Intasure Insurance

I have just received an e-mail from Intasure (who insure my property) asking for my tax number. Apparently they have received a directive from the Turkish government (I asked if it came from the embassy in London, or Ankara - they couldn't answer) asking for this information. They couldn't tell me any more about it, so I will not be disclosing this until I have more answers. What business is it of the Turkish Govt where I insure my property.?

I called Intasure and they advised it's to ensure you have paid the relevant tax on the insurance payments for your property. They also confirmed the tax is paid to the Turkish government by them for the insurance. Someone might be able to confirm this is normal.

We have recently renewed our house insurance in Kalkan, not with intasure & we were asked for our tax numbers, a new system perhaps.

Why would I pay tax on something I have paid for. There is no income involved with the insurance policy?. I have basic DASK insurance through Ali Tunc, but have never be asked to provide a tax number.

Don't we pay tax on most things we pay for. Tax is included in the insurance payments made to Intasure.
