Can't wait to be sat outside Yali/Moonlight bar with a cold beer (or a mudslide) in the red hot sun, meeting friends old and new  and eating the wonderful food that Kalkan restaurants/cafes provide.

Roll on July.....but have to get the A levels and GCSE's over with first so cant really focus on our Kalkan holiday just yet. Stressful time in the household........ so really really looking forward to being there.KK

3 weeks till we go to Dubrovnik and 4 months till we are back in Kalkan so not quite at the counting the days yet!
Anyway we have the British summer to look forward to first!!!???

4 weeks Babs for us for Ibiza then nearly 4 month for Kalkan. Although I am counting the days!! Dubrovnik is supposed to be very nice, it's on my bucket list!

Last week in Sep Babs. Not sure if a week will be long enough for us but we wanted to revisit Ibiza this year for 2 weeks so a week in Kalkan it is. The reports on here will have to keep me going till then!!

Only nine days to go.  Restaurant list now has more places than we will have days and we also like to eat on our own roof terrace some lunches and dinners.   Some severe pruning is needed.

The weather forecast looks good at the moment so plenty of sunlotion needed.   Especially if venturing onto a water hammock, remembering cautionary tales on this forum.

Yes, we'll be coming back as you're just going! Haven't been so late in the season to Kalkan so not sure what to expect with weather and how busy it will be? Although we went to Olu deniz one year in Oct and it was still lovely and hot.

The village is winding down and there's a lovely "end-of-term" feeling to everything. Some places will close (the latest we've been there is 19th Octoer and Palm beach closed before we left... ) I'm sure you'll love it, Nicky

Just back from 3 fabulous weeks in Kalkan, but on the journey home, I thought they could be my last.

After leaving Dalaman airport at 2.20 am on Friday, our plane was coming into land at Manchester around 4 am. On the approach, the wheels clunked down, and we passed over all the familiar landmarks and rooftops. Imagine our horror therefore, with the runway in sight, when the pilot suddenly pulled back and sent the plane soaring back into the air at a sharp angle.  There was silence in the cabin. We carried on climbing, and suddenly I realised through the blackness below that we were circling round what looked like the Lake District. The pilot announced that due to a technical fault, he'd had to abort the landing, and would shortly be trying again. We didn't know this at the time - I only found out from talking to ground staff later - that the flaps on the wings were not working, and we were coming in far too fast for a safe landing. We circled round the North of England for around 40 minutes - I was told 'to burn fuel and prepare for the worst'. Then we came in for a second approach at Manchester for a possible emergency landing.  By this time, people had got their iphones out and were texting loved ones. I was nearly sick with fear. I was travelling alone and had my little rucksack with my essentials on my back, ready to launch myself towards the emergency chute, should we survive impact. We came racing down towards the runway for a second time, then suddenly the flaps went up and slowed us down, and we crashed down onto the tarmac - which was by that time lined with fire engines and marshalls, who had been alerted to the incident.  We landed safely, but I will never forget the terror of that final hour.

Anyhow, I must be a glutton for punishment, because I'm off there again in 28 days - and it will taste all the sweeter for having come so close to 'the unthinkable'. Bring it on! Mine's a large and very cold Lal rose.
