Yet more questions from a Kalkan newbie
« on: August 19, 2012, 04:36:33 PM »
Every day I think of another question!!
Firstly, we have booked a bbq night at Cafe Vita on the first Weds we will be on holiday. We are staying at Truffle aparts which I believe is near to Kalkan end of Kalamar Rd, we do a lot of walking but don't know how far away Cafe Vita is and if it is uphill. Would we be better getting a taxi, and, if so do you agree a price before the journey starts? Also I am going to Atlantis for a hammam, my husband has decided against it as he has a skin problem. Does Atlantis have anywhere he can wait for me, a bar or something where he can have a drink? If not is there a cafe or bar close to it? Finally (for now at least), we will be eating in a couple of nights, can anyone recommend a butchers, or do the supermarkets have a good choice??
Many thanks, I am sure I will have a few responses as usual.
Anne

the walk to Cafe Vita along the Kalamar rd is slightly uphill, mainly a gentle gradient but one steep (but thankfully short) uphill section, nothing like as steep and long as some of the hills in Kalkan.. the walk takes approx 15-20 mins (assuming you don't stop at any of the bars on the way!).

Butchers, we use the one very close to the Kalamar rd roundabout, great value and choice.

hope this helps

Hi Amberpop, I'm new to this and Kalkan too and have been asking lots of questions and have been given many answers - and extra advice (like don't wear heels!)...so my post might help you too - I'm interested in a question that you just asked about agreeing the cost of a taxi before you go with them, and have also posted it on my discussion too...definitely need answers on that. Here's what it's called (in the Introduce yourself part): "New to forums - to Turkey - and so Kalkan - and lots of questions - a few now...". Hope it might help. Dobbie  :)

I don't think there is a bar at the Atlantis but dirctly above it is the Yali lounge which has seats outside and a bar area.
The Yali supermarket is also in the same development.
I have answered the taxi question in the other thread.

For taxi info have a look at the KTLN information below. It's 4.5 for the standing charge plus 0.6 lira per 100m:- http://kalkan.turkishlocalnews.com/portal/component/content/article/135-taxis/6456-taxis?directory=53
