Buying A Property & Real Estate / Re: Buying Property in Turkey
« Last post by bella9525 on December 13, 2021, 06:10:14 AM »
I have just been looking at the “Property News” section of the Blacklion website and it contained a couple of articles from the London Evening Standard.  One quoted John Howell of International Law Partrnership saying that that “there is no doubt recent legislative changes have reduced consumer confidence regarding long-term property rights”.

He concludes that buying property in Turkey is safe as long as you use a capable and Independent lawyer but it’s a bit of a shock to see rules are changing.  I’ve read several times that the rights of foreigners to buy have been suspended for a period in the past including a thread in this section last year.  Can anyone say if this is a genuine concern or just normal practice for the Turkish legal system?

Also is anyone aware if there is “military land” anywhere near to Kalkan and so a potential issue?

Members are probably aware that property in deemed Military areas can only be purchased by (or sold to)Turkish people and that land can be re-defined as military after your purchase.
Thanks
Abbo
hi abbo. buying property in turkey is a really good decision because turkish lira is cheap now and the rules to buy a real estate in turkey is more easier than before. but about your last question I think it's better that u ask it from an expert. u can visit https://alkhailtr.com/ and ask them if u want.

I cannot really understand why Turkey is still in the red zone for travel. 75% of the population have had their first vaccination & cases per 100,000 are lower than here. Another nail in the heart of hard working Turkish people in tourism. We only hope this will be resolved for next year and we are once again able to travel to this wonderful country.

This is why the chopping down of olive groves etc to build illegal villa over the other side of the hill is wrong. Bulldoze them up BURN them. Get some plastic greenhouses up. Apply for electric and water hook up then when they have the certificate to grow tomatoes move them and build some villas with bloody great pools. No sewer waste pipes just runoff. Less water in reserve to fight fires. People buying these places without planning permission. Mad.

Totally agree Ray, you do worry about the infrastructure when emergencies happen. Sadly the Turkish authorities don't seem to be up on these things. Lets hope the fires don't spread I believe Bodrum is now under threat, though it is a fair way from Kalkan.

True. It must worry people in Kalkan as the limited amount of water pumped to the area from saklikent. After the fires in the hills around islamar were shown to have difficulty in getter water to the fires. It does make me think that if a fire got out of control low down on the big hill how quickly it could spread with the updraught with the hill being so densely built on. All restaurants and cafes are such simple places where fires can start. I wonder if anyone is now considering risk assessments on what to do in the event of a fire. You only have to remember how quickly the fire in the harbour a few years ago took over before it was brought under control. Perhaps a pumping station from the sea with hook up places should be considered to places or risk. It’s clear building is not going to slow down but this should be done in conjunction with fire control and risk.

Awful scenes on FB etc of the terrible fires in southern Turkey, animals burnt to death and property destroyed. Hope the Turkish people can stay safe. As the world has not got enough to contend with at the moment.
