The Ekinhan hotel Kalamar Bay.....a hidden gem
« on: July 04, 2012, 08:16:57 PM »
We have had a place in the stunning area of Kalamar Bay for just over 5 years now and must
of walked past the Ekinhan hotel over a hundred times......well tonight the other half said to me ....I want something to eat but can't be bothered to go into town and I don't want a takeaway....ok I said why don't we try that place at the end of our road, 1 min walkaway....

So off we trotted to The Ekinhan hotel ( 90 seconds past Cafe Vita ( walking from town) on the Kalamar Road.

Right......besides the stunning location and setting ( stunning views of 'Kalamar Bay' with Mouse & Snake islands floating in the Bay) on the hotel terrace ( feel free to have a dip in the pool if your to hot said 'Valentino'our waiter, not sure he could be the owner, did not ask !)

We went for the set menu....any starter and main meal on the menu ( not Steak though) and a glass of house white.....£27 for the two of us, yes the two of us not each !

I had spicy chicken wings and oh garlic prawns to start. Mains...I had Pan Beef, served sizzling, oh had Chicken Soy Sauce....all of it was 1st class ( I'm hard to please ) + a glass of house white wine each......all for the princely sum of......£27.     Kalkans expensive.....my ars.... 8) ;) 8)

I felt I had to give this place a top review and post it, albeit, I honestly nearly didn't as I don't want it to become to popular.....what a selfish git I am !!!........as I say this is a hidden gem, you will not be disappointed.    I have NO finicial connection with The Ekinhan, just so good it deserves to be known to a wider audience.

Me and other half now sat on our terrace with our friend 'Vino' surrounded by fans, waiting for tonights full moon to light up Kalamar Bay, its fair to say that life is very good at the moment........it's so bloody hot here  8).....sometimes I (honestly) think I'm dreaming........Enjoy Kalkan  8) ;) 8)

Thank's for the recommendation

We went their last night food was excellent, better than many of the up market restaurants in the centre of Kalkan and great value.

Cost was 35tl for a glass of half decent wine, a mixed meze and a main off the set menu although you can actually have anything off the full menu apart from the filet steaks.

For our daughter they were happy to substitute a fresh orange for the wine and a chocolate brownie for the starter.

Is the restaurant & toilet at the same level as the road ie accessible to those with a bit of walking difficulty?

It looks very nice.

Hi,

The toilets are on the same level as the restaurant area.   It's a paved road and path all
the way from town to the Ekin hotel.

Really glad to hear others have enjoyed it as much as we did  8) 8) 8)

Can't wait to go back and have the Lamb Special, you have to give 24 hours notice.  I've heard
there's a good reason why they call it, Special !!!!!

Thanks onelove for the great recommendation, we eat there last night, so close to our villa I can't understand how we had missed it! great find and (IMO) exactly what the Kalamar bay needs more of. Great food at realistic prices with fab views and top service.

Looks and sounds lovely!  Bit puzzled by the comment about your video saying that Ekinhan hotel is no longer there!  Has there been another earthquake I've not heard about?

Also puzzled by the comment on the video regarding it not being there ... it was definitely there when whoever posted that as that was between the dates that onelove recommended it and we eat in it... it was still there in March/April this year (but closed as out of season)
