We have walked around the town this morning just for a break from listening to the wind all night, there is a great deal of weather damage all around, many places not open, just a few, they are all  trying to recover lost tables/chairs repair damage, replace potted plants, infact Kalkan is like a ghost town.  Also one or two smaller boats have been sunk in the harbour. The sea bed now holds several more tables & chairs/cushions from the nearby establishments.  It is now raining, the wind thank good ness seems to have dropped but the sky is looking grim.  It seems such a shame that all the hard work over the last 2-3 weeks to get Kalkan back ready for the season has now in some cases got to be redone.  At least it's not cold !!!

I think light the fire, corba for lunch, then perhaps a catch up on our lost sleep over night.  Tomorrow perhaps put things back together ourselves.  Insalla ........................

Looks like it's brightening up there already which is more than I can say for here today!
Hope all get their places back in order soon - it doesn't tend to take them very long to recover.

I have just been reading about and looking at photos of Kalkan's storm last night and the damage.   Seems to have been a very wild night.   I am sorry for anyone who may be out in Kalkan for the first time.  Not what they would have been expecting.    I know Kalkan does have storms but not good for first-timers.

I will be thinking of the restaurants and shops who are now busy repairing damage and sorting things out now the main holiday season is rapidly approaching.

Also will be thinking of those of you who live in Kalkan and may have experienced some storm damage as well as a disturbed night's sleep.

Despite the storm I still can't wait to get there on Friday. Kalkan's always got something of interest, whatever the weather.

Had a lovely lunch at White Table today. Started off optimistically outside but soon had to make a dash for the storm free area inside!

So sorry for all the businesses who have put so much work into making everything so nice over the last few weeks - we have enjoyed watching the place transform. However as you all say it does not take them long to get things back in order.

Back to White Table, give it a try if you want a wee change from menus offered elsewhere. Run by a lovely young couple.

Sun is back out now hooray!

I was told that the biggest loss from the wind are the greenhouses in Yesilkoy.  Most broken, acres and acres of tomato and green pepper plants lost.  These will probably not be rebuilt until fall, let's hope those owners have some insurance as I'm told they are very expensive to build.

Akbel also without electricity for 2 days due to downed power lines.

So glad you are open again, White Table :) We went three times last year -  burger with basil was my favourite (as well as the fabulous rose wine  :)). Can't wait to see you in June.
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Opposite Salt and Pepper restaurant. Great value food for its location - mostly posh burgers with chips in paper - love it!
