HI All,

Todays GBP to Lira rate in the UK is a very healthy 2.79 - Please could someone let me know what the rates are in Kalkan at the moment

Rate in Kalkan shops at the moment is 2.75 to the GBP.

Rate in the Kalkan shops was 2.75 when we left on 13th August - it had been that for the previous two weeks. Matt at Baharat restaurant can usually beat that (but you do need to ask to speak to him) and I overheard a conversation in the Trio bar where a tourist was thanking the manager there for a "very good rate", although I did not hear what that rate was.

Deniz consistently offers a good rate. My advice to anyone would be to take Sterling and change in Kalkan

We were going to take sterling, but, due to spate of robberies in Kalkan, including people having their safes stolen we have decided to err on caution and take a mixture of sterling and cards.

Hi all,

Does anybody have info of the exchange rate for the shops at the top of the town and elsewhere to exchange Sterling to Lira? The rates n KTLN have not been updated for a few weeks and noticed the spot rate has picked up of late to around 2.87.

Someone posted on another forum that they drew out sterling from the atms then changed into lira at the banks to get a better rate??? Is this correct?

We sometimes do that, amberpop. It does work out better than withdrawing Lira but I usually just withdraw Lira for the convenience

where is Deniz Bank? is it in Kalkan? If you don't bank with them can you still exchange money there?

Deniz Bank is in Kalkan along with a number of other banks.You do not need an account to change money with any of them.Money can also be changed at the PTT (post office) and some shops in town too.

Garanti Bank will give out Sterling at the ATM.
