Weather in May

We are going to be in Kalkan the 1st 3 weeks in May.  I know there is no way anyone can predict the weather with complete accuracy but for anyone who is in Kalkan regularly in May, what do you think we may expect.  Don't want to arrive with totally unsuitable clothing. Luggage allowance is not so generous that we can afford to pack to cover every eventuality.

May is usually very pleasant about 24-26 degrees in the day (if not hotter). You will need a jumper/light jacket at night time normally, as it does get a bit chilly.

Would shorts also be a no no in the evenings?  We are there for the last two weeks of May and are trying to economise with the packing as we now have all the baby stuff to bring!

It can get a bit chilly in the evening, but we choose indoor dining places, mostly when we are there in May. If you choose a roof terrace they are usually obliging with the pashminas - even for men in shorts who are a bit wussy like my BH
You will notice it getting warmer at night by the end of your stay though - its like someone is turning the thermostat up a notch a day

Ok, thanks to all of you for the sharing of the information. From your discussion I got the clear weather view of Kalkan. It will be going to be so pleasant and comfortable weather in the month of May. Hope I 'll enjoy my 1st Kalkan trip very much...

Hi beckyevans,

If you've posted yesterday hope you've not quite gone yet.  I've often gone first 2 weeks of the season and you can still get some spectacular spring storms (similarly at end of season, even early Oct) so a waterproof can be very handy.  A lightweight one is fine and a few lightweight layers.
