Kalkan Belediye to be managed by Kas from 2014

Not sure if people have seen this

but Kalkan will loose it's mayor and lots of its powers to Kas in 2014

Will this be good or bad for Kalkan

Seems strange but 338 people have viewed this post and not one has any opinion whether this will be good or bad for Kalkan

Strange as it will affect everyone who lives or rents out here

As yet with little or no infomation on how this will be implimented, it is difficult to assess what the negative and positives will be. I understand that the Kalkan office will stay open.
The locals who i have spoken to say it will be a good thing, what the impact to villa - apt owners is unsure, maybe someone living full time out in Kalkan may have more infomation and more imformed knowledge.

As a non-Turkish speaking owner who is not resident, I don't feel qualified to offer a valid opinion.  My dealings with any form of officialdom (Tedas) have not been a happy experience and lead me to feel that, as a foreigner abroad, the best policy is to keep your head down.
The nuances of local politics are lost on me, although petty corruption seems to be universally endemic in the system of most countries if one is to believe news sources.
Personally, I tend to adhere to the notion that small is beautiful in admin terms and therefore this proposal is not good news, particularly as I read it is politically motivated to provide some advantage to the ruling party, although that comment in itself may be politically inspired.
In short, I haven’t a clue so best to ignore this post.

My intial thoughts were mixed, as there seems to be a good argument on both sides. But I also read with interest in the main Turkish press about this being a political move by the ruling party to secure more seats in future elections. However, since reading on KTLN the disgustung events which took place in Kas last week, what a terrifying thought that their mayor could one day be in charge of Kalkan, and should these events reach the UK press, they may need a very good PR offensive to persuade people to visit.
