For me it has to be  cestrum nocuturnum.   OK, I have only just managed to Google its proper name.   I know it has melissa (not the lemon balm herb).   I was told that in Turkey it is known as nightly passion.    A little research on Google has produced its proper name.    It is often known as lady of the night or night blooming jasmine

It is a shrub, can grow into almost a small tree.    It looks very insignificant, has greenish white flowers not really like normal jasmines.   Comes into its own in the evening when the smell is wonderful.    There used to be a large specimen of it in the village, I think it was near Akin.    I have tried growing it in Kalkan  and lost a couple of shrubs.   Hopefully my latest venture will succeed.

I suspect it is too tender for the UK, unless one has a conservatory.   If you do come across it in Kalkan I don't think you can mistake it, the scent is so special, but only after dusk I think.

This evening scented shrub is one of my favourites. I first came across it in the Greek Islands and  then Northern Cyprus, I tried for years to find out the proper name for it. I have been told it was called Evening honeysuckle or Evening Jasmine then Melissa. I was given a rooted cutting by a lovely lady in Samos but unfortunately it did not survive a northern winter. Thanks for giving me its correct name.
