Good UK exchange rate!

Hi everyone, just two weeks to touchdown in Kalkan. Marks and Spencer now 2.669 lira to £1.00. Each day on comparison websites this figure is rising. Heres the thing- we always bring some lira for starters then top up at atm on Nationwide debit card as and when (with charges-other banks are available!). But I am reading that the best rate of exchange is in resort sterling to lira. Are we talking banknotes, as that could be a lot of cash to carry around for a few days. And what is the exchange rate in Kalkan at moment and who is offering the best deal. Any info gratefully received before I order starter pack of liras this week.

We found that Travel FX offer very good rates in comparison with others. Current rate 2.685

If you have a Sterling bank account at a  Turkish bank, take cash and pay it in. Then withdraw as needed. Some friends have an account at Deniz bank and reckon that they get a better rate doing this than at the Post Office in resort. Plus they don't get charged commission for doing it.
I used www.iceplc.com in April but, their rate is lower than almost everyone else now. So, with Nationwide charging to use my debit card, I guess I shall be doing it the same way as my friends from now on.

Did you just exchange Sterling or withdraw it from a Sterling account in TL?
I'm with Yapi Kredi and with the weekend bank bulk rate at 2.77+, I wondered whether Deniz Bank give a better rate?

This morning I got 2.75 at Yapi Kredi. Not at the counter but from one of advisors at the right hand side as you go in. I brought in Sterling cash from the UK.

yesterday afternoon at 1630 got 2.80 (£500=1400tl) at Deniz Bank. Rate seemed to be that shown on following weblink:

Was that for sterling or a withdrawal - did you pay any commission?

That rate was for sterling which I paid into my Turkish Lira account.  Exchange rate was 2.80 when converted into lira.
