Veterinarian
« on: July 19, 2011, 03:35:01 PM »
Hello  :)

can anyone recommend a veterinarian (or is there a vet at all in Kalkan?) who can check our puppy for rabies? We'll be staying in Islamlar in mid September.

I've somewhere read that this check needs to be done when returning to the EU.

Thanks!
Oezi

Can I suggest you PM amber or saskia to get atilla's details?  I think he may be on EK as atillahector but the first two ladies could confirm.

There are a number of formalities to be completed prior to taking an animal into EU countries
You should contact our vet in Kalkan - Ibrahim Ozkan Petlife Vet Clinic 0242 844 1586.
Up to date details concerning the entry of animals to the EU may be found on the internet.I believe they vary depending on the country involved.

Hi if this helps, I did this in reverse, I came to Turkey with my 2 dogs and one of the requirements for entry into Turkey was rabies injection but I had to have this done 3 weeks before we flew out as after the injection a blood test needed to be done to establish both dogs had antibodies to protect them from rabies.  Therefore if your pup needs to be checked for rabies and is given an injection you may need a blood test done a couple of weeks later so to be on the safe side do it as soon as possible to allow for a possible blood test and its results.
