Water supply and restaurants
« on: June 18, 2011, 10:49:31 AM »
Does the problem with water supplies at the moment meant that restaurants and hotels are unable to open?

Not sure about hotels but most restaurant owners I have spoken to have adequate water supplies, even if they are being careful with what they have, such as using left-over bottled water for washing down tables and watering plants etc

If you are Turkish and the Belidiye can reach you, you are entitled to free water from their fire engine thing, this service however does not apply if you are not Turkish. Brits can buy water from local suppliers.
never buy a house anywhere without an independent surveyors report

Don't think you have got that right about the free water from the Belediye because I know Brits that have had the tanks filled for free................. You just need to go down to the offices and complain and they will come up and fill your tank for you...........Also both fire appliance are in the town tonight filling tanks for the restaurants.........
The toilets in Akin are clean and flushing.......................which is more than I can say about mine well they are clean but certainly not flushing yet...........................................

Well that's amazing, after weeks of this water problem somebody informs us, (on an information website) that we can get free water from the Belidiye! Haven't read about this on ktln and the Belidiye haven't let us know about this. So why all the complaints. All these Brits that have been going to the Belidiye and getting their tanks filled have certainly kept it a secret.... so now there's a solution, I bet there'll be one hell of a queue at the Belidiye on Monday morning!
Why didn't you let us know before Tiamaria

Nope, Ive been all the way back to June 4th on 'ktln water alert' and not a dickie bird about the Belidiye delivering water, that seems a big one to miss during such a crisis.
However there a couple of Bowser numbers in ktln's local directory which are given.

By the way, just 10 more sleeps for me before I can sit in civilization, have a pint of cool Guiness and flush the toilet and wash my hands without thinking..... O to be in England.....  with a free flowing lavatory.

For those of you, like me, who don't keep abreast I can only say thanks to the ktln archive researchers for finding news items presented more than 10 weeks ago when there wasn't really such a problem.
Now everyone knows they can get water deliveries from the Beliyide, there shouldn't be a problem.  Well done to them, I shall be there first thing Monday morning, hope to see you all there.

I hate to dampen people's hopes but the belediye does not have the capacity to deliver water to even a fraction of the villas in kalkan. Even if they could, why are so many local people having to pay for water delivery from contractors if, as has been suggested, the belediye will provide it free.

What are you suggesting howmad, that the Belidiye made a promise 10 weeks ago knowing that they do  not have the facilities to honor that promise? Unbelievable

The Beleldiye were this afternoon filling a water depot in a villa near me that was bought purely as a property to rent out, the owners generally only using it for a couple of weeks a year. This property is rented out in high season for over £1000 per week, surely out of the income they receive they could afford to pay 60tl freeing up the Belediye wagon for residents that don't make a profit out of their homes. Unless of course their poolman is getting the water free from the Beleldiye and then charging the going rate!

That's not the point though Mel, the Belidiye made a promise 10 weeks ago -  what they should do is reimburse everyone the 70tl. as a sign of goodwill. and make sure everyone has sufficient water, not wait until there is a problem then let everyone down and leave them to pay
