Bakery and Supermarkets
« on: May 20, 2011, 11:04:51 PM »
Hi,

Just wondering what the supermarkets are like in Kalkan as this will be our first visit. We are staying in a Villa so will want to stock up on supplies on the first day. Is there a large supermarket that we should go to or is it just the usual small shops here and there that sell everything you need anyway?

We are also hoping for a nice Bakery that sells fresh croissants and bread etc if anyone can recommend?

We are staying in the Villa Antiphellos, cant seem to find which road this is situated on from the maps, the closest street i can see is Yasemen CK???

Thanks - Tups!!!

There are a couple of fairly large supermarkets - Yali, Adda etc and they stock probably everything you need - they have a deli counter and sell fresh produce. There are a couple of butchers and fantastic fruit and veg shops so don't confine yourself to the bigger outlets. Most of the supermarkets sell bread and cakes but we love Nur pattiserie up by the Thursday market and Bread & More on Kalamar Road for lovely pastries and cakes
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

We also found that Yali do a free delivery service which is really handy.
The Thursday market is also very good for fresh produce.

Lovely new bakery on the road out of Kalkan to Akbel.  Great variety, the olive bread is delicious.  They are also supplying Yali supermarket on a daily basis.

Thanks for the replies everyone. We have just found out that The Villa Lycian City is the reception for our Villa and they are pretty close to Yali supermarket from what i can see so we shouldnt have far to travel and will definately check out those pattiseries for treats!!
