Supermarkets
« on: June 14, 2011, 07:39:46 AM »
Just arrived in Kalkan last night for the first time, looks very nice indeed.
Could anyone give me their opinion on the best supermarket in the area. We have a car so can travel.
Many Thanks

We prefer Yali, but they are all similar. Have a great holiday.
Currently have a duplex apartment in Kiziltas which we visit as often as we can.

Hi,
Buy your fruit and veg. at the greengrocers opposite. Were posts earlier in the season suggesting other supermarkets but we did most of our big shops in Yali.

We always used to do a "big shop" in Migros in Fethiye or Kas, but in the last few years the larger supermarkets in Kalkan like Yali and Adda have been comparable in price and range so we shop local. As Roxie says the fruit and veg is better from the greengrocers and we buy fish from the little market down by the taxi rank and meat from Bulent the butchers.
Can anyone tell me if Smile is open this year and is it still 24hrs...? We arrive at stupid o'clock and might need a few bits.
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

We arrived at about 6am and got the Abi transfer driver to go via Akbel. The bakery is open and will sell you hot fresh bread, (white and brown, sliced or unsliced) and the shop next door has a good selection of items plus milk and water.
There - over there, there are.            To - Going to
Their - belongs to them.                     Too - In addition, Also
They're - Short for they are.

Pedant! me?

Thanks, BubblesG. We arrive at about 2am (delays permitting) so think it might be a bit early for the bakery :(

Do any supermarkets offer a facility that allows you to Email them from the UK with a shopping list that can then be delivered to your villa to coinside with my arrival...... just a thought as I feel a bit guilty sitting by the pool with a cold Efes whilst the OH staggers up the hill with all the shopping  >:D  >:D

Don't think you can email them but they will deliver the shopping so he doesn't have to carry it back up the hill.

ha ha....told you your user name is girlie :-*
Ask your property owner if their management company can arrange it for you...ours is organising more water with the welcome pack which is my main concern.

for the vast choice Yali,  Sevil, staff  are lovely and will go out of their way to help you find what you are looking for, greengrocer just down from Sevil, produce is top quality.

This is my first post on here. Going to Kalkan in July, staying at Mediterranean Apartments.  Can you tell me where the nearest supermarket is and if any supermarket in Kalkan deliver, and do they charge for this service.  We are arriving at 3am, so obvoiusly will need to get to a supermarket early.
