It is a proper Turkish market [not at all "touristy" held every Friday

Sells fruit and vegetables, sheep, goats, hardware, tobacco, electrical goods, home produced olives etc, fish-both live and dead, clothes etc. etc. and stalls where you can have a cheap lunch

Kinik , is about 10 km from Kalkan, if you go out of Kalkan on the new road as if going to Fethiye go past the Patara turnoff and the turnoff to Kinik is past the large mosque on your right and where the road forks, leave the main road and go left
Keep going and you will eventually see the market

Kevincat99 is right Lynda, Kinik market is well worth a visit. The fresh produce and spices are really cheap, we always end up going back to Kalkan loaded up after buying far too much, just can't resist. We visit every time we go to Kalkan and have always seemed to be the only tourists there at the time and have appeared to attract some inquisitive attention from some of the locals, albeit very friendly and welcoming. You'll often see lots of chickens running loose, probably someones lunch later on, nevertheless it all adds to the wonderful atsmosphere. You can get reasonable food and drink in the little friendly family run cafe/bar at the entrance to the market next to the mosque, a cold drink is very welcome as it can get very hot walking around the market even though it's under canvas. The only downside of the cafe is that they have traditional loos and you have to be a very accomplished squatter, but again it all adds to the place's charm!!. After the market we often drive out to Saklikent where we have a great lunch, cooling off dangling our feet in the freezing water of the gorge. All in all a really great day out, hopefully we'll be doing it again at the end of next month. Roll on!!
