Turkish Lira or Euro?
« on: April 13, 2011, 10:53:00 PM »
Hi a friend of mine is about to go to Turkey on honeymoon and has been advised to take Euros as many places apparently dont accept Turkish Lira because they get a better exchange rate on Euros. Is this really the case? Admittedly this wasn't in Kalkan and Kalkan is my only experience of Turkey. I would be very grateful for any further advice.

This is Turkey - why wouldn't they accept their own currency ??

Here money is money wherever it comes from  :D

This made me laugh. It must have been someone in a Bureau de Change that told you that, so that they could charge you to convert Sterling into Euro.
Just take Sterling and convert it in the banks or shops in Kalkan.
There - over there, there are.            To - Going to
Their - belongs to them.                     Too - In addition, Also
They're - Short for they are.

Pedant! me?

A lot of places price things in Euros (not Kalkan which prices in £'s or TL) but everywhere will accept their own currency - what a bizarre piece of advice.
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)
