UK television channels
« on: January 20, 2011, 06:55:24 AM »
I have an account to watch UK television channels but the reception is very poor.  For ITV programmes I have to refresh the page again and again to watch a programme.  It is not so bad on BBBC

Firstly you need a decent Internet speed with limitless downloads

Then download    Expatshield   and always start a TV session by running this programme ....its free to download

The depending what you want to watch  download....   BBCiPlayer - ITViPlayer - and a programme called Seesaw
They are all free and the programmes from your laptop can be linked to your TV screen if you wish by buying a video cable+audio cables or your TV may have a scaert socket
Any problems PM me

Thank you very much Kevincat and Buster for your prompt replies and luckily, you both seemed to understand what I was on about even though half of my query disappeared into the ether.

I am in Kalkan and have unlimited wireless internet access although I shouldn't think the speed is that good.  I also subscribe to Pure VPN.  I downloaded the programme you suggested and it does appear in my files but when I click on it, I get a message saying it is not a valid WIN32 application.  This may be because I have a fairly new computer with Windows 7.

I'm afraid I can't work out how to do a PM but should be very grateful for any other suggestions.

Thanks for your help.

Butterfly, cant help you on your TV issues, but if you click on the user name (its in orange wrting) of the person that you want to send a pm to and that's where you send a pm.
Currently have a duplex apartment in Kiziltas which we visit as often as we can.

You can also use the "balloon" at the end of the list under a users name at the side of their posts . Just click on the balloon and it will take you directly to the Private messenger for that person.

I have now successfully downloaded  http://expatshield.com/. My mistake previously had been to try to 'save' the file rather than 'run' it.  I am now watching seamfree UK television and am so very grateful for your advice on this and also for explaining how to send a PM.

Thank you all so much for your kindness and help.

Here is a page with comments about several VPN expat TV providers.

http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=637658

I have my-expat-network.co.uk and it works well and smoothly for us but it is not free, it is 5 pounds monthly.  I am wondering why anyone would offer their servers for free?  What is the advantage for them if they can't send you ads?

Any VPN is essentially a connection through someone else's server.  I wonder if they can access content on my computer?  I'm also careful not to log into any protected sites using a VPN as that gives the server owner all your personal login info.

But if you all have no problems with the free service, I'll cancel my current one and try the free one.
