Boat trips
« on: September 11, 2010, 11:31:03 PM »
Could anyone recommend a good half day boat trip? The ones I've seen are all full day and fussy as we are we would prefer a half day.

P.s if my posts are rubbish please let me know I'm not entirely certain of the forum decorum.

I would always recommend a full day trip.  It is a great day out and you get to see more.  Take a snorkel.

Dear Kalkan-fan
I really feel you would miss out if you only (if available) took a half day boat trip.   Choose your boat carefully(read earlier posts), and it is magical.   From the time you leave harbour and get the most amazing views of Kalkan, stops for swimming in the clear and clean water, a lovely relaxed lunch, perhaps a snooze - then more swimming (if you wish) afternoon tea and an unhurried sail back to Kalkan.  Keep your eyes open for a turtle!  Wonderful!

Marvellous stress buster!

8 more sleeps 'til our return!!!! :) :) :)

Kalkan-fan, if you want to hire a boat exclusively, you can dictate where you want to go (within reason) and how long you are out. I would imagine you would still have to pay the same price as hiring it for a full day and as others have said it really is a lovely day out - but its entirely your choice if you want to come back halfway through.
Your posts are fine...if you're worried at all have a look at the Mutual Respect info.

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate the advice it's just we went on a full day trip last year and were basically lied to about where we were going and what we could do ( namely promised a mud bath, when we got there the boat stopped about half a mile from the shore. Ours was the only boat this far away. The 'mud' was completely dried up, there's much more but it would take too long) so I thought if there was a half day trip with no promises and just swimming we'd b happier.

I wouldn't get too hung up about the 'mud bath'....
It never ceases to amaze me when tourists get to some remote beach and smear 'mud' (which after all is  just dirt) all over themselves - and i am saying this from what people said on my last boat trip..."ooohhh, its gritty" "ow! I've scratched myself" this is not beauty salon mud, this is not a natural spa, this is a beach!!!
I'm sorry you were unlucky last time, there are bad boats out there, i have had experience of this in Kenya, but luckily you are in the right place now and can benefit from lots and lots of other peoples experiences!
there is, as much as I can gather from this forum, only one boat to avoid like the plague and its name begins with N and ends with N.
As to 1/2 day request, is this a wish resulting fro an unhappy excursion? I agree with the others if you are on the right boat, you won't want the trip to end! ;)
