When you live here year round it is easy to overlook many of the restaurants as you have your personal favourites  which you return to time and again.  We don't often try new places until we have friends staying then we become more adventurous. So I thought I would share our latest 'new' experience with EK members.

We went with friends on Saturday night to Sandals Restaurant at the harbour.  They have a new chef this year and have been offering samples of the food to passers by to encourage bookings.  What we were given as a little taster was so good that we did book for 6 of us.

The food was exceptional and I would say has raised standards in Kalkan to a new level.  We tried various dishes and each was beautifully presented and perfectly cooked.  The sea bream stuffed with prawns was a great hit, so was the sea bass in a filo pastry wrap.  The meat balls were exceptional, this is such a basic Turkish dish but their interpretation was delicious and the steak was succulent and tender.  I had a salmon fillet with asparagus, again wonderful flavour, good size portion and perfectly cooked.

The ladies in the group were ecstatic about the chocolate cake with ice cream (12 out of 10 they tell me) and we had creme caramel and marinated apricots both delicious.  With one bottle of wine, several beers, a gin and tonic, six starters, 6 main courses and three shared desserts the bill came to 60 lira per person.  We thought it was great value.

I completely agree with you.  Delicious food, beautifully presented and great value.  I'm already booked for tonight which is lucky as there may be a rush now!

totally agree!! It  has a different view across the harbour, the staff are good and the food is excellent.
