Cost of clothing in Kalkan
« on: August 24, 2010, 01:19:25 AM »
Having been told that shirts ,shorts and clothing generally was very cheap in Turkey, I was planning to buy most of my holiday  clothes on arrival in Kalkan.  However I have just been told that Kalkan is "very expensive " unlike the rest of Turkey!!
Can someone kindly confirm or deny this ugly rumour as it could seriously affect my Efes money  :(

You can get some good deals in the Thursday market...very good fake names ..this year it's ed hardy and G Tec that seem to be the thing.....(G.tec shorts 3/4 about 25tl) ..shirts vary ...but barter for a deal ;)

you can still get t shirts 4 for a tenner .....
People Of Britain.. When your missus asks "Does my bum look big in this? Never say "Dunno your blocking the light."... just sayin ????

...and if you'd like some really nice linen wear, there are few tailors who will either sell you "off the peg" or you can have something made to your specification. V&B also sell some nice menswear at reasonable prices...I wouldn't say either of these options are "cheap", but I think they offer good quality clothing at comparitively low prices.
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Have you tried "Primarkio" here in UK, you will get a good range of cheap clothes there or George at Asda "cheap as chips" as they would say at Kalkan Market.

I guess that buying in the UK defeats the object really as I'm sure you are planning on bringing a half empty suitcase. It should not be a problem if you arrive say on a Wednesday so that you can go straight to the market & get kitted out but if you arrive on a saturday you either streak round Kalkan or walk around humming in what you have got.

The same market travels all round the area. When it arrives at Kalkan the prices go up! You can get a shirt made to measure in the town very cheaply, just ask around. Get clued up on prices before going to the market. Most things are cheaper in town. ;)
