I remeber watching Mustafa the tailor and another shop keeper having a right old ding dong in the street a few years ago.

Then more recently the taxi drivers and the driver of one of the courtesy buses!!

Fights happen everywhere occasionaly........ even in kalkan.

Well said Mrs EK.

And it may be rather presumptuous to say that this family were "sent by holiday companies" that may not be the case at all.

What do a couple of you mean by 'Interesting this is a first post' !?

I heard about this incident the next morning from a Turkish friend who had been there as it happend !! It is a shock and such a shame, but lets not get too alarmed by it, it was a one off incident, not likely to happen again I hope.

I wont be lucky enough to be in Kalkan this year , but I do remember being witness to several altercations amongst taxi drivers over the years so these things do happen in Kalkan, same as everywhere else in the world.I believe there were guns witnessed last year weren't there ,that was whilst I was there .Doesn't stop me from believing that Kalkan is the one place where I can holiday alone and feel perfectly safe . Cant wait for next year in fact.

yes guns, i witnesed several Turkish youths having a scuffle,  then one of them then discharged one round from a semi automatic pistol. The fight stopped and the youths then tussled the boy and took the pistol off him.
This all happened at the taxi rank round a bout at new year.

For gods sake folks get a grip. What is this the Daily Mail Little Britain site. Lets not get too hysterical " I'm a poor woman" "oh I can't go out" Kalkan is safe and probably a lot safer than my home town but it doesn't stop me going out >:D

These things happen in the best of places. In a funny way the alarm and disgust expressed just emphasise that this sort of behaviour is very rare in Kalkan and simply will not be tolerated. Should get some photos of the family and post them on the gallery "Banned from Kalkan/Turkey"
