If you rent a villa on one of the surrounding hillsides, you won't hear the call to prayer.  We don't hear it at all.

I am sure we had a new one this year - a few days ago he sounded like Barry White!   Not wishing to be disrespectful, we did not get up and boogie :o

Oh goodness I cannot imagine selecting a villa on the basis that you can't hear the call to prayer!!  :o   It's part and parcel of being in Turkey, the wind beneath the wings of your holiday, a sign that you are immersed in a different culture and ultimately wholly reassuring.  Welcome it into your heart and your ears!  ;D

Just got back today and have to say the call to prayer was the most melodic I've ever heard. Don't know if they've changed the Muezzin or not but he was on good form all last week. Love to hear it :)

As a Newbie to this Forum i must say some of you tend to get a bit nasty when a person has simply asked a civil question, as far as I could see the person only asked not to be too near to the Mosque they did not in any way insult the Religion or Country. Then they are given sarcastic replies. I think some people need to lighten up and not be so quick to judge someone simply because of a question. If you still want to throw your toys out of the pram over this reply please keep it to yourself as I only want constructive replies thanks.
