Black fly hell

They were still hanging around as of Thursday last week as we got some fresh ones lazing around the pool on our last day - still picking the scabs off my scalp!

Just back this morning from 9 great days in Kalkan,no problems with the little black rascals but picked up a few mozzie bites on my ankles and shins,why always there when my arms and face ect are free as well,strange it always seems to be the boney parts.

I think the mozzies are sufficiently clever to go for the bits they can chew under restaurant tables in the evening, without you noticing them! If they head for arms, face, shoulders etc, you can generally spot them and give them a good slap!

the olive flies were a huge problem this year, my BH NEVER gets a single bite in Kalkan and had several by about the third day. He looked at me and said "you've not been bitten once", and I was promptly eaten alive after that - it's like they heard him
I also thought the mosquitos were pretty bad, but only when we went up to Kizilitas ...I think once you've been bitten once, there's a homing device for all other biting insects to use. The flying ants were also a problem and totally spoilt a night in Omar's Kitchen - I think I may have inadvertently eaten at least ten of them with my food
