The best hotel pool in Kalkan
« on: February 19, 2010, 01:59:50 AM »
There'll be 4 of us (2 couples) staying in Kalkan in June. Our apartment has a cosy little pool, and we'll take a day out at one of the seaside bathing complexes. But can anyone recommend a great hotle pool for an afternoon Must haves: decent size, bar, cafe, comfy sunloungers, no (or at least subdued) music, no (or at least subdued) kids.
Thanks!
Baggers

Try the mediteran with it's infinity pool and fab view, they also do an excellent lunch and make you feel very welcome as an outsider.

Definitely the Mediteran. It has a great pool and bar/restaurant area all with probably the best view in Kalkan, also unusually for a hotel the food is worth a trip itself.

Just thought I would look for the Mediteran to check it's whereabouts and found this from the Simpson travel website. I am wondering if it will be open to non-residents. I hope so because I too wanted to pay it a visit! "The Mediterian Hotel is located on a hillside above Kalkan with breathtaking views of the sweeping bay below. The 15 contemporary self catering suites have private balconies or patios suitable for couples and families. For 2010 the Mediteran Hotel is exclusive to Simpson Travel clients."

How difficult is the access to the pool area if visiting for the day?

Absoloutely nothing personal to Baggers or anyone else here but I've just had a look at the Simpsons website & it looks lovely. But if I were a guest at that hotel I'd be a bit irked if anyone could just walk in & use the hotel pool for the day - it's not that big.

The Regency Pool is pretty nice & Im pretty sure that they let people in if you are having lunch etc.

From what I have seen on my trips,if you eat and drink at most hotels, you can use the pool ect, unless you pay a fortune and its very exclusive, most hotels seem happy to do this.

.... I agree... which is exactly why people are prepared to pay more for private apartments and villas with their own pool!!

I believe that you can use the Lykia Spa pool if you have lunch, without doubt the best views in Kalkan and close to town. It would not upset resident guests because they have a choice of other resident pools. If you did get fed up you could then stroll down to Yali beach club now being run by Mustapha ex Aubergine maitre d'

I always thought, the same as fidimax that you could use most hotel pools, as long as you pay  (in food and drink) to use the facilities.

As many of you know (yawn) we're getting married in the Mediteran in June.  Our guests are all staying there (they've booked all the apartments) and while it is theirs exclusively, I dont think it matters if other people use the pool too - as long as they dont have access on the actual wedding day!

The Mediteran along with many others, has an open to non-residents sign outside so obviously encourage this.  There maybe weeks that they have empty apartments or it maybe that the guests staying there eat every meal and drink in their own apartment not in the restaurant - and let's face it they are in business to make money. ;)
Currently have a duplex apartment in Kiziltas which we visit as often as we can.

The Regency hotel pool isnt open to non-residents.  But I'm sure you can use the pool bar for the excellent lunches (fab club sandwich).  I do, but then again I'm their neighbour!!!

We've been to the Lykia pool as non-residents which was lovely - definitely no children there and, from what I can remember, no music either. It's set away from the main hotel, so feels less like a hotel pool than most and as Howmad says fab views
Turkeyfan I hope Mediteran is closed for non residents the day you get married...wouldn't do to have people jumping in and out of the pool whilst you are taking your vows ;D ;D ;D
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

K4E, Ha ha. That would be fun wouldn't it?!  We have agreed with Ahmet that the will be no non-resi's that day.  You and your lovely OH are more than welcome to come up for a few drinkies with us in the evening - we will let certain non-residents in!

Thanks all. Instinctively, I think the Mediteran edges it slightly.
