Private Boat Hire

We have gone on boat trips from the harbour many times and enjoyed each one. This year my wife and I would like to hire one for the day just to ourselves. I know it wont be cheap but......we're on holiday.
Can anyone help how to do this, do you just go down the night before and ask around?. Any suggestions on which boat and approx cost?

Hi we always use Zeus.  It is a small boat (max occ 6 people), wonderful food and a great captain, Ali.  The cost is about £100 for the day and even for only 2 of you well worth it.

Good - but can you just wander down the night before? Are there any days which are more likely to be available?

You can wander down any morning before 10am & will have no trouble as long as you don't mind sharing with others.Cost about 15£ per person last year.

Mustafaayse, it would depend on when you are in Kalkan. In peak weeks, it might be difficult to book the boat for yourselves, particularly if you just go down to the harbour on the morning you want to take your trip.
I've mentioned in another thread that we booked Yildiz 1 in advance because we were there in July last year - like Zeus it holds a maximum of 6, so it's a nice size for just the two of you - Adem is a fabulous captain and we have hired it a few times for ourselves, it's so relaxing when its just those you know on board . It costs the same as Zeus - about £100 which includes all your food - and there's plenty of it. Drinks are charged as extra

When we are in Kalkan. We use Akin and skipper is Ali. They are booked up months in advance with repeat business. Nice guy and food is excellent.

Like Charlie, me and my OH use Zeus.  Ali is a delight and prepares a fabulous feast - some of which you can catch yourself if so inclined!  Last time I tried spear fishing with Ali - I kept missing but Ali managed to catch some lovely fish that were added to the superb lunch time barbecue. The boat is the perfect size for 2  and incredible value.   His family run the Sun (terrace?) Restaurant with the Flamingo Bar beneath it, which is simple but delicious and great value food.  Sometimes his cabin boy does a wee breakdance performance when he seems to defy gravity!  A lovely family...mind you, everyone in Kalkan seems lovely...miss it soooo much!!

We are there in June for 3 weeks so will go down as soon as we get there ( well after the first, second and third Efes! ) and see what we can organise with Zeus/Yildiz etc.
We actually know the lad who runs the Flamingo/Sun Terrace so will speak with him as well.

Ali, the owner of Zeus is the brother of Soner who owns Flamingo Bar so if you call in and see him he will give you Ali's contact details.  Some nights Ali can be found in the restaurant anyway.  You will have a fab day out with him, guaranteed!

Rachey glad to see you are still enjoying day trips on Zeus, I'm pretty sure I recommended Ali to you a few years ago.  The food is fabulous, how he produces a meal like that from that tiny kitchen always amazes me.  Days don't get much better than a trip on Zeus!

The only boat worthy of consideration is Ali's.

Anil boat. Fabulous food, lots of mud, married to an English lady. If you've not booked already then its probably too late.

Sorry Blackpool but why would you say Anil boat is the only one worthy of consideration?  Have you tried all the boats in the harbour?  I don't see the relevance of him being married to an English lady and how/why that should make a difference for a trip on a Turkish boat or make it better than any others, unless of course he's serving roast beef dinner with yorkshire puddings!
