Tax numbers

We are coming over in Feb to open a bank account ready for completing our property in March. Our estate agent in Kalkan is supposed to be getting our tax numbers which we've been told we need for a bank account but so far has not delivered and we are getting a bit anxious they wont be ready before we go. Does anyone know how long it takes, and the process for getting tax numbers?

Go to the first floor in the Maliye in Kas [along the harbour frontage past the square with the statue of Ataturk and then up the hill - it's on the left with the police station on the ground floor] with your passports.
Ask for tax numbers which are issued almost immediately - easy

Annav, don't be surprised that your agent hasn't supplied the tax numbers. Everything tends to happen at the last minute in Turkey!! I'm sure it will all work out in the end. Who is your agent though?

Also, I believe from another thread that you have booked to stay at the Nur... Baris is a mine of information and is also a low-key estate agent himself - I'm sure he will give you some guidance (especially if you buy a drink or two at his bar  )

Also, if you haven't already selected a bank, I thoroughly recommend IsBank (directly opposite the Nur). Ask to see Elcin....she is normally on the till nearest the door as you go in... she speaks excellent English and is delightfully helpful and friendly.

I would have to agree with the other posts.  It is not surprising they have not provided them to you yet.  You should be able to get them though without problem with the right persistence.  Let your nerves calm.
