Healthcare
« on: December 09, 2009, 07:35:05 AM »
Hi all

Does anyone know the definitive answer as to healthcare entitlement in Turkey for  a non-Turkish citizen (ie a Brit) who has a resident visa and a working permit and is working for a Turkish company?

I have seen so many conflicting statements on this (including some comments on this very forum ;))

Also, has anyone looked at private health insurance in Turkey?  There are plenty of insurance companies that offer it, but has anyone got a particular recommendation from their own experience?

Cheers

Martyn

..it's no use bumping on this forum, Martyn. It's the quietest time of year now - only the old diehards and I'm glad to see a few newer members putting in an Autumn/Winter shift  ::)
Unless its urgent, ask again in March and people will respond - but only if they know the answer ;)
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Thanks Buster. I have seen that site before and it's very helpful; I was really wondering if anyone has any experience of taking out Turkish private medical insurance?

Martyn the site below has info on Turkish state health insurance from expats and others who live in Turkey.

Does this mean you have found legal paid work in Kalkan?

The link below says there is no age limit to buy this health insurance.  That may be true for state insurance but Genel Yasam coverage is only up to age 66.

@ Kalkan regular: quite possibly... can't say too much at this stage but we're looking into it at the moment and, if so, it will be working for an established Turkish company... so yes, if it happens it will be legal!!

@ Cosetta: sorry, but there was no link? ???
