Tornadoes
« on: October 31, 2009, 07:39:33 PM »
Today when I looked out towards Kalkan there were a series of tornadoes forming in the sky. At one point you could see 5. I know that there were some great pictures last year but I did not realise it was going to be a regular occurrence.

I wondered if anyone managed to get any pictures of this amazing phenomenon,
there is a tornado season in this area every year
never buy a house anywhere without an independent surveyors report

last Saturday there were a number out at sea between Kalkan and Kas. App there was an announcement this morning warning about tornadoes, at which point I scarpered home, presume these are the ones howmad saw. I am not aware of there being a specific tornado season, the first one I ever heard about was February one year, it had come ashore through the greenhouses near Pydnae at the far end of patara and had caused a huge trail of damage. Many will remember the famous one that tore down the main street early October a few years ago, and of course last years spectacular water spout in March. I think as long as the weather conditions are poor they will occur. I think the main change is that they actually get reported now through such channels as EK and KTLN, plus Facebook for the photos!
