Live from Kalkan...Sunday 16th August

Great flight over on BD8351 out of Manchester Terminal 3.

About 15 seconds to buy our £10 visa and then on our way. The taxi ride was 2 hours to Kalkan, but with a stop for coffee on the way.The sun was almost rising as we got here.

The Apartment, next to Ther Nur Hotel is great, spacious with air con, and a view down Cardiac Hill and out to sea.

Yesterday we had lunch next door at Omar's Kitchen and it was fine. Efes is about 4TL a 500ml bottle, and 2.10TL in the supermarket next door.

The Nur had a bbq evening last night with a Turkish singer. 20TL per person, which I think is about £8.

Kalkan was busy last night and we walked down to the beach and took the air and looked for the first time, at all the amazing restaurants that we have heard so much about.

I think everything we need is within about one hundred paces of our apartment, so ideally situated - including 3 ATMs!

Currently enjoying a coffee in the Cinar Bar & Cafe next door, where the owner has just used the hose to wash our feet with freezing water from the Saklikent Gorge - the most expensive water in Town?! He then offered a chilled towel to freeshen up.  All for a coffee (and use of his wi-fi!)

A few more hours of R & R by the pool and then we have a long trek to KAYA restaurant (about 300 metres down the hill!). The Grouper Fish sounds good, although Mrs A has her eye on the Steak.  It should be a "magical" evening?!!!!  Will let you know...

Hi, ate at the KAYA 2 weeks ago and had the gruper fish - excellent and half the price of the restaurants down by the harbour, really nice place, very popular with great atmosphere and good service.
