O.k., here is my idea for 'a Band made in Heaven'!

Vocals, Guitar, Harmonica:  Steve Marriott (Small Faces, Humble Pie).
Guitar, Vocals:  Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Slide Guitar, Guitar:  Duane Allman, (Allman Bros Band)
Piano: Nicky Hopkins, (The Cyril Davies All Stars, Jeff Beck Group, Stones etc. sessions).
Hammond Organ, Vocals: Billy Preston, (Beatles, Stones sessions).
Bass Guitar: John Entwistle, (The Who).
Drums: Al Jackson jnr. (Booker T. and The MGs, Stax and Volt sessions)

Well, what do you think?

ps never heard of Nicky Hopkins? Try youtube Nicky Hopkins Speed On,   or Cyril Davies Country Line Special / Chicago Calling. Cheers for now, Allan.  8)

The best way to keep a drummer quiet is to put some sheet music in front of him.... the silence is deafening (apart from the sound of head scratching)... ;) ;D

Hmm, Buddy Rich couldn't read music and Steve Gadd can't, but who cares if you can play as well as these guys could/can.    Maaaan, you let your soul guide you, we don't need no sheet music, we just hit things!!!!!!   8)

I can't believe nobody's mentioned John Bonham (Led Zep) or Elvis Presley - they would definitely be in my all time line up:

Male Vocal - Elvis Presley
Femal Vocals - Karen Carpenter
Guitar - Jimi Hendrix
Drums - John Bonham
Keyboard - Mozart???

Nice band. Think Jon Entwhistle is a bit out of place (not that he wasn't a brilliant player, just don't see him fitting in there). Otherwise, a well balanced line up.

Love Steve Marriott as lead vocal - so underrated!!

I've got a solo album by Nicky Hopkins!! Can't remember what it was called though - it's down in the cellar in my vinyl collection somewhere.

Actually Steffi, John 'Bonzo' Bonham is my favourite drummer, if only I could play nearly as well as he could! The band I had in mind when choosing my line up was more a Soul, Funky/ R&B/Blues type band and that was why I chose A.J.
Did you know Karen also played drums in The Carpenters?. Do you think she and Bonzo would have got along? Apparently he liked Abba!!!!    Jimi Hendrix, amazing axe player, again a favourite of mine, we do 'Voodoo Child (slight return)' in my band. Hmm, Mozart. If he were alive today I'm sure he would  'Rock Me Amadeus' Cheers, Allan.  8)

Martyn, yes J.E. not the ideal bassist for my Heavenly band, but as The Who did play Soul/R&B stuff in their early days, and apart from Jaco, I couldn't think of anyone else! Any ideas?  :-\

It would have to be James Jamerson, from the Motown session band (Funk Brothers)....only problem is, I don't know if he is still alive !!!

So if Karen Carpenter and Bonzo did a drum duet, we could get Agnetha and Frieda from Abba to do the vocals - that should be very entertaining!!

Hi Steffi, looking at your avatar, you could pass for Agnetha if you ever wanted to join/start an Abba tribute band!!! Do you sing or play an instrument?

Yet another tricky one.

I'll start with Robert Palmer and Dusty Springfield on vocals, and mull that over for a few days.

I'd love to hear what Nick Drake ,John Martyn & Jeff Buckley could do together .
While I'm at it lets put Sandy Denny in there as well .

Except that Agnetha and Frieda are still very much with us. How would they keep in time?    E.S.P.?  ;D

Ha Ha Ha!
That reminds me when my friend (who is a redhead - like Frieda) and I donned wigs and entertained the campers at Silverstone with a rendition of Mama Mia!!  Unfortunately (or probably fortunately actually) we didn't have the lurex jumpsuits though!
As far as singing goes, no I can't and haven't played the piano or violin since I was a teenager, so I'll just stick to miming.......

Steffi why not try AIR GUITAR! This is taken very seriously by some people, there is even a world championship for it. You could ask Martyn for some tips!  ;)

Hi Kefgirl, wow, what a start to your 'heavenly band', 2 brilliant axemen!
Imagine those 2 playing in stereo!!! I somehow can't ever imagine Keith Moon playing in any band except The Who though.  The dynamics created by 'The Ox' and Pete Townsend complemented his drumming style perfectly.   Michael Hutchens for 'eye candy' as well I presume!!!    If I was a bass player, I would want a mirror finish fender just like Phil Lynott! such a brilliant front man and vocalist too! I take it from your tag line you are a Floyd fan. A stunning track, so evocative. Cheers, Allan.
