Loud Music in town
« on: July 31, 2009, 12:35:39 PM »
I have heard many guests asking me "what has happened to quiet Kalkan" so l went into town to see what they were talking about. goodness what a racket from the bar by the car park. Has Kalkan changed from the quiet well presented town or is it changing to loud Bodram or Marmaris.
Anyone else worried about this?

Noise restrictions and closing times for bars and restaurants are detailed on KTLN website.

Reading the article on ktln, it seems that an extension to the times music can be played in bars has been made from 1200am to 1230am, otherwise nothing has changed from what I can see. Bars presumably have been playing within the legal sound limits, they had to b4 and they do now.
 Kalkan doesnt have that quiet town image, there has always been plenty of loud music from  the moonlight bar  at the top of town and yali and sultan bars in the centre and from yachtpoint down in the harbour, I've never found the town a quiet place i the evenings.
never buy a house anywhere without an independent surveyors report

@kim21
Absolutely right!
My first impression of Kalkan in June 1988 was "they want to entertain Greece". Never had the experience of a quiet Kalkan. Das ist leider"Wunschdenken".

Been in Kalkan the last 6 days. Have not noticed load music....even sat at Moonlight Bar tonight and could have and hear a discussion !!!!. The town, whilst busier, the music levels seem quieter than they were in June. The Belediye appear to be enforcing the new rules. No fear, Kalkan is still as magical as it always has been !!!! Some people are loosing the plot !
