Hi again, does anyone know if its cheaper to buy spirits at the airport, or wait till we get to the supermarkets in Kalkan.

Cheers Tracy x

Well Gordon''''s Export Gin was on offer at the airport two litres bottles for £13.50 along with Cointreau (OH tipple) so it was defiantly cheaper at the airport.  ;D

Sorry I should have said this was at Gatwick so we had to carry it with us.....nothing to bring back though  :) :)

A bottle of gin in Kalkan supermarkets is about £16. You can buy duty free on arrival at Dalaman airport and the prices are good. Then you are saved the hassle of carrying it with you to the flight.

We''ve brought 6 bottles in the UK and a further 4 in Dalaman, ( 2 people) hope this helps  >:D......If you buy 6 bottles (UK) they normally give you a hessian bottle bag to carry them in for free ;)

might be worth mentioning the cigarette allowance seems to have changed at Dalaman (couldn''t find the thread!!) last year it was 3 packs of 200 per passport...this year it was 2 packs...(they don''t seem to smile much on the tills in fact they seemed grumpy amd slightly off hand...others noticed as well ::)!!)
People Of Britain.. When your missus asks "Does my bum look big in this? Never say "Dunno your blocking the light."... just sayin ????

 ta ta for now

Just back from Kalkan and my OH bought 1,000 Lambert and Butler onboard Onur flight (outbound)- think it was about £74 - no questions asked about who else he was with to be gven this allowance. The same deal wasn't available coming back though!
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

...meant to say 2 x 1 litre Bombay Sapphire for £20 at Manchester - disappointingly 20 Euros EACH at Dalaman on the return flight. The duty free was always good at Dalaman, but we were distinctly unimpressed this year :(

....but remember that there are limits on what you are entitled to bring back to the UK from Turkey.  I have seen fellow passengers returning from Dalaman pulled over by customs officers on a number of occasions at Gatwick and claiming that you thought Turkey was in the EU was not a valid excuse for exceeding these limits!  To quote Blue Lizard "forwarned is forearmed!"

As a reminder...

"When travelling from a non-EU country you can bring the following into the UK for your own use without paying UK tax or duty:

200 cigarettes; or 100 cigarillos; or 50 cigars; or 250g of tobacco
2 litres of still table wine
1 litre of spirits or strong liqueurs over 22% volume; or 2 litres of fortified wine (such as port or sherry), sparkling wine or other liqueurs
60cc of perfume
250cc of eau de toilette
£145 worth of all other goods including gifts and souvenirs

If you are bringing back any duty-free or tax-free goods you bought when you left the UK, these count as part of your allowance."

You may be pleased to know that the limit for "other goods" has been increased to £340.
