Wimbledon
« on: June 22, 2009, 06:38:34 PM »
As we''re going to be away for Wimbledon fortnight...how did I manage that?...I''m wondering if there''s usually coverage in Kalkan via the Turkish satellite channels or in bars? It would be just my luck to miss a British (now that he''s got over his problem with the English  ::)) winner after all these years  ;)
thanks

Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Beats me why anyone would want to watch two / four people playing bat & ball on TV. Yuk. Talk about terminal boedom.  >:D ;D

I find football less than stimulating, Wendy, but would not put down anyone who watches it.

I used to play a lot of tennis & find Wimbledon (and the French, Aussie & American Open) all fascinating.

I''m that strange breed of women who loves all sport so will watch it live or on tv at any given opportunity. I like to follow all the big tournaments, be that football, rugby, golf, tennis, cricket, athletics...should I go on  ::)

I''ve no idea what "boedom" is Wendy, but it sounds painful  ;D ;D ;D

I also used to play a lot of club tennis a while back and really enjoyed it. It is a very sociable sport as most club tennis tends to be doubles or mixed doubles. Where I played,(we had lovely grass courts as well as hard courts) it was competitive, but very friendly, when your opponent hit a good shot you acknowledged it and vice versa, even in interclub matches. I guess when you play a sport you are obviously interested in watching it on t.v. because they show the best players, and although you are reminded of how limited your talents are, you can relate to the mechanics and technique of the shots/strokes/kicks etc. and tactics of the best... If you haven''t played a sport, perhaps you cannot appreciate its finer points Wendy!    I had to give up the tennis when my band got busy, my good lady said if I didn''t give up one of them I would be sleeping in the garage!.....

                                                   Cheers, Allan.

Wendy I''''d agree with you on ladies tennis  >:D >:D but if you watch a live men''''s match between world class players especially on grass then you will appreciate how thrilling it can be..TV doesn''''t really do the game justice. And I have tickets for the mens final...how cool is that  ;D ;D

I think we should all give Murray the benefit of the doubt and cheer him on. He was very young, arrogant and naive when he made that silly comment, he''s only 22 now, who of us did not show our ignorance at that age?

Obviously if he loses he''s a complete tw**
