Fishing
« on: June 12, 2009, 03:17:54 PM »
Does anyone know if you need a licence to fish off the rocks in Kalkan.  We do a little bit freshwater fishing at home and was thinking about taking some tackle out with of to pass away the hours.  Also is it prohibited in anyway.  Any advise would be gratefully received.  We are staying in Kumurluk if that helps.

All you need is a rod - a line - and infinite patience, and a good fishmonger  ;D

Hi Kevin, I'd love to ask a question if you don't mind?!

Are there quieter spots / coves to be found by walking round the coast from Kalkan centre where you can fish from rocks or is it limited to the main coast in the centre?

Thanks.........

Dave........

Hi - no you can fish from anywhere on the coast
If you go down to KlubeE and the Kalamar Beach clubs and avoid those lying on sunbeds on the platforms - there are rocky areas to the side and between the two clubs where it is fine to fish
Also along the road to Kas there are loads of places where you see the locals fishing
Also apparently the harbour and from the breakwater is good at night
So you will be spoilt for choice - but maybe not for fish!!!

As we say in Turkey  .............Insallah [God Willing]

Probably more fishermen than fish ...but someone has to catch them

Having said that Igloo [Turkish Bird's Eye] are now doing a really good range of frozen fish..so maybe keep them in mind - however taking home a packet of fish fingers is a bit of a giveaway  :D

I've started bringing all my fishing tackle back to the UK from Kalkan as the fishing is so bad. Boat fishing, I've found, is a complete waste of time. Does anybody else have a different experience and if so at what time of year?
