Hello all,

According to AccuWeather, the forcast for the first of our two weeks is showers on the Tuesday and rain at times on the Friday

Obvisouly things change, but if they don''t, what activities do people suggest we get up to? Apart from that...

PS, for medical reasons I can no longer drink

Joking aside "Accu" is not always right and it changes as the weeks go on.

Just Chill out, maybe have a Turkish Bath "hamam" there is a bar down on the harbour where they have the platform type Turkish raised seats with lots of cushions and we often sit and watch the world go by. You don''t have to buy alcohol they serve fresh orange juice and of course Nescafe.

I''m packing me brolly and wellies!!

I went to Jamaica for a week, about 10 years ago now, and it rained literally every day. Luckily, in those days I could drink, but I have to say that despite the wonderful cocktails it was a total nightmare and a complete waste of money.

Seriously though, a few afternoons or mornings of rain I can totally cope with, as long as there is something nice to do. I thought about a massage type thing too, or maybe the carpet weavers trip? I do like the idea of watching the world go by too, that sounds cool.

Claire, we''ve booked the Turkish Cookery course at Guru - a restaurant on the Kas Road. It''s only half a day, but the sun might come out in the afternoon

www.kalkanguru.com. Also for the best pedicure in the world I go to the lady up the stairs by Sofra. It takes an hour for the full pedicure but you feel like you are walking on air afterwards. If you''re hiring a car, Saklikent Gorge might be ok in the rain - you get very wet anyway and a lot of it is sheltered form the elements (whatever they might be!)
As the Engineer says, I wouldn''t pay too much attention to Accu - if you look in a couple of days time you might find the forecast has changed

...oh and the best place IMO for watching the world go by with coffee and gorgeous cakes is Cafe Del Mar. If you need directions, try www.turkishlocalnews.com there''s a very good map of all the bars and restaurants on there.

The forecast can change considerably over the period of a couple of weeks but Accu is usually good near to the time.

Gosh, well I REALLY hope it changes, cos right now they''re forecasting thunder and/or rain for 4 days out of my first week. Will not a happy bunny if that happens.

I''m off to Northern Cyprus last week of May and Accuweather is showing ''unseasonably hot'' weather (realfeel of up to 50 degrees!!). Perhaps it''s all a bit unpredictable at this stage!

I''m sure it will be fine. We''ve just got back and when i checked the weather before we went it said it was going to be raining all week. We had a bad couple of days at the start of the week and then it was glorious sunshine for the rest.

Having spent my whole life in aviation, I can tell you that no long range forecast is ever accurate - merely a rarely accurate guess. If it is ''seasonal'' to have the occasional storm, one will almost inevitably appear on a LRF - and usually disappear as the time draws near. Forecasts for the following day are occasionally accurate, but certainly not guaranteed.

take each day as it comes..i gave up with weather forcasters long ago..it''s more accurate to stick your head out of the window each day

Hiya Claire,accuweather predicts no rain for the next 15 days,hope its correct I dont want to see rain when
I am in Kalkan,well maybe a bit wont be bad,last year the weather was great at the end of may,fingers crossed !

Accuweather - Yesterday, the black clouds were hanging over Kalkan for the last week in May but today it''s "abundant sunshine" and "very warm". Seems that the forecasting is more fickle than the weather!

Here''s looking forward to good weather in July. We go on the 14th for 2 weeks. We usually go at that time and enjoy the sport of cloud spotting whilst lying on our sunbeds.
