CURRENCY IN KALKAN
« on: April 27, 2009, 08:03:58 PM »
Hi Folks

Can your advise please? We were in Hisoranu last October and didn''t have much need for Turkish Lira everyone seemed to want English £10 notes.  We are coming to Kalkan on the 7th May, is it the same there?

Regards and hoping to meet you.

Les Ross

Same in Kalkan the pound is accepted in most places, and any change will be in turkish lira so you always have some of each currency.      ;D

Some(not all) restaurants will try shall we say to offer you a not very favourable exchange rate...you are better off paying in  turkish unless you are making a  bigger  purchase ( leather coat, bag etc) then a bit of bartering can be made.... ;)
People Of Britain.. When your missus asks "Does my bum look big in this? Never say "Dunno your blocking the light."... just sayin ????

 ta ta for now

Sterling was definitely the currency for most of the more expensive things as BL says and for car hire, and the markets but we always paid Turkish lira in bars and restaurants. However, the £1 was fairly strong last year...not sure they''d really want our sterling at all now  :(
We''ll bring sterling as usual - we can always change it if no-one wants to do business with it  ;)
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)
