Football
« on: April 20, 2009, 03:23:26 PM »
As Everton have made it to the FA cup final and it is being played May 30th,this is our first day in Kalkan, so we were all wondering if there will be plenty of places to watch it as we cannot miss it.
Thanks

I would go to the Roof Top Terrace Bar...good flat screen TV under cover Efes on tap. Great result I didn''t think Fergusion could go any redder though he was going to explode.

PS He is winging about the pitch now....the same one Everton had to play on !!!!

The Cup final this year is on ITV and Setanta. Does anybody know which bars have this?
Nothing is really work unless you would rather be doing something else.

I suspect that as this is such a major match - for both turks and brits - that most of the bars who have screens will be showing the match - I''m sure you''ll be spoilt for choice!!

I only know of 2 bars ( there could well be more ) that show Setanta.....The bar just down from the Moonlight bar, it has a big screen set up outside, really good, sat outside in the sun with a nice cold beer  and dare I say it....The Swan Pub ! ......I have lost interest in this years FA Cup ! ! !   took me 2 hours to get home from wembley last night.....only 15 miles, nightmare !
Latest weather report...... Large outbreaks of Efes followed by intermitent spells of vodka and tonic ;-))

I suspect that BBQ (formerly Breeze) will be showing it as well!

Cheers!

I have been asked to carry out a Setanta (Freeview type?) box for a Turkish friend. Do these work in Turkey or do they mean a Sky satellite box?
What I guess I mean is, what equipment is needed to view Setanta in Turkey, does anybody know?
There - over there, there are.            To - Going to
Their - belongs to them.                     Too - In addition, Also
They're - Short for they are.

Anything to do with TV or radio seems to attract duty charges when bringing it into Turkey - 72 euros for a receiver (179 for a DVD!) - so please check with whoever you are bringing it for, to avoid a Midnight Express moment.

The English FA Cup final is one of the most viewed sporting events throughout the world. I''m pretty sure the football-mad Turkish will be screening it on one of their own channels - although the commentary will be in Turkish, you will still get to see the game .
When you get to Kalkan, make it your mission to find a bar that will be showing it and if you are EFC mad stake your claim to a seat near the TV very early - after all you have the rest of the holiday to catch some sun and only one chance to see Everton beat Chelsea in this major cup final  :o :o
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

HA!!! i staked my claim in the Yali bar for an England seat......got there nice and early, sat under a nice brolly, nice view of the screen,,cold beer,......Bliss!! ..but wait!!! the sun moved round, the screen was a blur so they moved the brollies to shade the screen...result?went for a wee and missed the goal,England won,i got a large burnt red head!!and was tom and dick from too much sun!!.... ::) ::)
People Of Britain.. When your missus asks "Does my bum look big in this? Never say "Dunno your blocking the light."... just sayin ????

 ta ta for now

You sure it wasn''t a case of too many Efes, BL  :o :o :o?
Always better to blame the sun in these instances ;D
But a cautionary tale for young Amy, nonetheless. If it''s a 4pm kick-off here, it will be 6pm in Kalkan, so a much more pleasant time for watching outdoors - not sure if it''s 3pm or 4pm - make sure you check and add on the time difference or it will be a long wait in whichever bar you choose ;D
Enjoy!

I may add that on subsequent visits when England were in need of a goal....The cry of "bog bog bog" went up along with pointy fingers and i was sent to the loo ..... :-[ :P

I was there...awful result for us, but a fantastic game of football. I stood and applauded Arshavind''s second goal - it was stunning and he is an exceptional player. Bet you United fans are delighted he''s cup-tied in the CL ;)
Cm''on Pompey!!!! Old 50p head Crouchy owes us....can''t see anything but a Utd win, mind.

Unbelievably my team Preston North End has sneaked into the championship playoffs and the all important 2nd leg is on Sky Sports next Monday (11th). This will be my first night in Kalkan. Will I be able to watch the game anywhere?

PS I can''t tell you how happy the missus is that the first night of the holiday will be spent (hopefully!) watching PNE on the telly!!

The Burnley playoff games are Saturday afternoon and Tuesday evening both being shown on Sky. It''ll be a proper Lancashire hotpot should both of them get to Wembley!!

What does UTC mean?
