Hi
Have just returned after spending a week in Kalkan - the weather was fabulous every day and was beautiful when we left this morning (clear blue skies and approx 22 degrees). The weather forecast hadn''t been v promising for the last few days, however they were perfect. I''m sure you''ll be fine :)

Sorry to disappoint Kevywevy but the weather is truly awful today and the forecast is for several more days of the same. We have very heavy, low cloud, rain on and off all day and much cooler temperatures.

We met a couple today, first time to Kalkan who have booked a two week stay . They think Kalkan is wonderful, they don''t mind the gloomy weather but they are leaving on Wednesday - ten days before they were due to go home- because they are being driven mad by the incessant noise of the jackhammers on the hillside overlooking the new road (behind and to the right of Samira de luxe) which start at 8 a.m. and don''t finish until after 7 p.m., 7 days a week.

Apparently they will be digging out all over the Easter holiday period. The constant noise is very intrusive and stressful and will do nothing for Kalkan''s attempts to start the season earlier.

One of the recent mayoral candidates had a plan to change the building regulations so that although construction could continue until May, digging out foundations using jackhammers would have to cease by March 1. This seems a very sensible proposal as it is the jackhammers which are the worst noise polluters.

It remains to be seen if this proposal will eventually be adopted.

Indeed the weather has turned rather damp of late after an excellent few days last week. Possible return to sun by Wednesday. You would''nt call it cold, mind.

There was heavy rain overnight but today (Wednesday) is back to being beautiful, warm and sunny. However, the jackhammers are still working....... sigh
