Avon Skin So Soft
« on: March 11, 2009, 10:29:38 AM »
Reading through all the Mosquito threads most people seem to swear by Avon Skin So Soft. I have had a look on the Avon website and there appears to be a plethora of different SOS products and I''m not sure what to get. I am probably just being a bit thick, but please can someone put up the product codes for me to be sure I''ve got the right stuff.

Thanks in advance

Hi we use Avon SSS and it seems to help as long as it''s used frequently so that your skin is covered in a thin film of it, more importantly in the evenings of course. We went to Kefalonia last August and were rather lax using it compared to when we''ve been to Kalkan and really got bitten to bits. I''m not sure about the product code but the one I use is "Skin So Soft Soft & Fresh Dry Oil Body Spray" it''s in a sort of bluey spray bottle. If you google Avon.com uk and then search Skin So Soft on the Avon site you''ll see the ad there it''s a fiver for 150 ml I believe. You''ll be able to compare it with yours then. All the best hope you keep mossie free on your hols!

Thanks for the replys, its more for the Bread Knife as the little Blighters seem to prefer her fresh soft skin to my coarse hairiy flesh.

Is this the stuff :
http://avonshop.co.uk/shop/product.asp?pf_id=4982&from=search&find_spec=Skin%20So%20Soft%20Soft%20%20Fresh%20Dry%20Oil%20Body%20S&pagenum=1

Also does this do any good or is it just the body oil ?http://avonshop.co.uk/shop/product.asp?pf_id=32511&from=search&find_spec=Skin%20So%20Soft%20Soft%20%20Fresh%20Dry%20Oil%20Body%20S&pagenum=1

Also as we are going may and it seems the Olive Flies can be a pest has anyone found anything to comabt them or is it just a case of wearing hats in the day?

Hiya Mark, I was in Kalkan in may last year and didnt have a problem with mozzies or the olive bugs, but some people have had bites from the little beasties, head and shoulders shampoo has been suggested for
olive bugs.

We used Skin so Soft last year, and it was magic.  Mosquitos will normally fly for miles to find my poor partner and chew on him - last year he didn''t get a single bite.  We were in one restaurant - Kosk I think - and one of the little blighters (mozzie, not any of the delightful waiters, I hasten to add!) came and zoomed in on my OH - we watched in fascination, ready to slap the nasty bug out of existence....it got to within about 2 inches of his skin, must have got a sniff of Skin so Soft, and it flew away as fast as it''s little wings could take it!  ;D

Just remember if using the dry oil spray to put a towel down on the floor when applying it. It does make the skin very "slippy" and the combination of slippy oil on tiled floors is a recipe for the very worst "dancing on ice experience" :o
The product is however excellent and has helped me avoid the dreaded Mozzie bite skin reaction.

I find it safer to spray the oil on to my hands and then smooth it on to my arms and legs.

Not sure if anyone aware but there is an ''Avon Lady'' in Kalkan, it is Tekin''s wife at the Cinar Bar in the Yali complex by the supermarket and Deniz bank, she gave me a brochure and it is the same system as in the UK each month new brochure with differnt offers and prices, orders take two weeks but she did say that if you contact her in advance should can order anything and have it waiting for your visit, other alternative is if anough people want Skin so Soft she will order some in and sell, she (apologies for the reference to ''she'' I am hopeless as remembering names) can be contacted at tekin.tiger.1@hotmail.com

The first time I went to Kalkan I used Jungle Formula and it didn''t work. I got eaten alive. Our Tapestry rep told us that Jungle Formula was useless in Kalkan and suggested I buy OFF or Sinkov. I have used both of these products since along with SSS and not been bitten.

We buy Boots own with 50% Deet. I tried Avon SSS last year and it didn''t work for me, unfortunately  >:(
I was gutted as it smelt far nicer than the ususal repellents...I was also gutted that I ended up a mass of bites :(
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Lorreta,

I think you probably just met a bunch of hungry mozzies the night you used Jungle formula, as all three products have the same active ingredient DEET and Jungle Fomula has much more of it than the others.
