Travel Insurance

Hi,

I just wondered what other property owners do about travel insurance... many policies say in the small print that you must be travelling to "pre-booked accommodation" - probably so some onus is put on the accommodation company so the insurance company can counter claim?

What policies do owners have and how comprehensive are they? What would happen for example if you slipped on your own freshly mopped floor and broke a leg - would you be covered?

Not wanting to be negative just something Ive always wondered!

It isn''t travel insurance but public liability insurance I think you are talking about Jon. This gives cover if anyone hurts themselves at your apartment due to your negligence. Some property insurance companies give you this cover as part of the insurance for the building, others don''t.

Hi,

Thanks for the advice but it is travel insurance I mean, as we dont rent out I looking for insurance specifically to cover us - I know our current travel insurance covers loss of baggage, delays etc but its always something that Ive thought about - if something happens, would we be covered?

Hi Jon,

I don''t own a property but I would have thought that whether it was your own property or not which you were staying in, it would come under the "personal accident" part of the travel insurance?

Thanks YoYo Ill ask - When I posed the question to a number of insurance companies they were very vague with their answers!

Maybe Im a cynic but I can imagine insurance companies knowing exactly how to get out of paying !!
