Scooter rental ?

Have any members any advice on renting a scooter or small motorbike,is it safe to do ? what are the laws regarding licences ect,
who is the best scooter rental ?

Neil...i wouldn''t bother if i were you...I''m an old mod and value my life to much to hire one out!! you only have to see the amount of surface shingle on some of the roads.....last summer i saw three people who had come off(my observation post in the Kaya) luckily not badly hurt ...besides how you going to buy me a drink if you can''t get your hands  in your pockets?

Thanks for the advice Mr lizard.I was just thinking of renting for a couple of days in may,when I am in kalkan with my brother and two friends,my brother and I have been riding since our teens(twenty odd years) may will be my seventh visit to kalkan and I have never been "outside" town,thought a couple of scooters would be a good way to see a bit more and not have to rely on buses ect,to go to patara,Kas ect
but maybe not ,I will have a think about it.
Buying you a drink would be no problem my friend,I would put them on my slate at Pasha bar,look no hands
and supping Efes through a straw.

what about hiring a jeep? all the fun of al fresco driving including flies in your teeth!!...great way to get about and loads safer with 4 wheels....P.S.. i will just say Neil said put my drinks on his slate
 
Is Pasha still opening for summer?...somone said they thought it looked closed down.....i hope not,maybe just sleeping for winter?

we have thought about a jeep,maybe the best option,as three of us are drivers.
drinks on the slate ONLY when I am with you so I can keep my beedies on the tab,I am not sure if Pasha bar will be open this year,Ive been trying to get hold of Yusuf or Emre but they seem to have disappeared off the face of the earth,I might have find another watering hole.

Hi Neil - Happy New Year to you!

I would have thought that the price of renting 2 scooters will be well on the way to covering the complete cost of the jeep hire and far safer as well - i recall when looking at rental prices that they weren''t that much less than the cheapest car!

Perhaps some of the Kalkan dwellers can shed a little light on pasha bar?...how will Felicity and lizard run up Neils tab otherwise?

Hi Felicity,I think a jeep is looking like the best option,and as I will be the only one who cant drive I will be able to have a drink !
I hope Pasha is open in may and who knows a party might be in the making.

Don''t know anything about scooter rental but had a drink(or three) in Pasha last Friday night and it was definitely open!

pasha bar opened over New Year, they did close early if noone was about, Yusuf was there New Years Eve and was very drunk later there was a big fight at the moonlight bar in which he was involved, didnt see him after that think he was in hiding with a few cuts and bruises

That sounds like Yusuf,involved in everything,but nice to hear pasha is still open and I hope they do well
and keep going this year.
