Temperature in Kalkan

The temperature in Kalkan yesterday afternoon was 32 degrees. The sky was the deepest blue, completely cloudless and the sun shone all day. The birds are singing, flowers blooming. Recently planted seeds have all germinated and are thriving and early daffodils are opening in our garden.

At long last, our limes have ripened, we have so may oranges on our trees that we have frozen 10 litres of juice this week.  We are now picking our olives, this year has seen our best crop ever, and we hope to have enough olive oil for a year.

Listening to the UK weather forecast this morning, the announcer said it would be a mild 12 degrees in the south east with intermittent rain.  So for all EK readers who won''t be here again until next year, remember that the sun is still shining, the sea is still sparkling and despite economic downturns, here at least, all is right with the world.

What bliss and I do envy you being in Kalkan when the weather is so changeable here in the UK.

Just curious to know if you press your own olives and if so how do you do it?   We have a large olive tree in our garden but have never picked them.  How much oil do you think one large tree might yield and how do you make the marinated olives that they sell in the supermarkets?

Yes Lantana, thanks for the reminder.  I do know where I''d rather be given the choice.  commuting by motorcycle tonight through the rain through South East London for 15 miles - not exactly my idea of heaven I can tell you.  Mind you, me and Rosib are out for a curry in approx half an hour; it does have some compensations! lol   Bill

I was so pleased to read your posting about ( real time / up to date ) the weather in Kalkan.

I brought a villa in Kalamar Bay in May this year, and while it is OK to look at weather sites for weather reports they are more than offten incorrect. When I read your report I got to thinking what a good idea for the "Forum" if someone who lives ( or more people , more the better ) in Kalkan could post a daily weather report ( ie ; temp, sunny, not sunny, windy, not windy ), I''m sure this would prove to be a very popular addition to the site, as it would be a report from someone who is there, so a true reflection on the daily weather.

So for you lucky ones who live in Kalkan please consider doing this for us unlucky ones who are just about to get an Artic blast this weekend in cold, wet, windy England !

I understand from Kevincats posting on another thread that it is pouring down with rain in Kalkan today and is set to continue like that..!!   

And - for a change - we have brilliant blue sky and sunshine down here in the South    (albeit chilly!!) - Looking forward to the artic conditions this weekend (NOT!!!  )

We do look at the weather on the EK site, and thats my point, when it was 32 degrees the other day the weather site said it was 22 degrees !  thats why I am asking if people who live in Kalkan can post a weather update on a daily basis, that weather site only gives a report on say, a 200 mile coast line, I would prefer to know what the weather is really like from people on the ground !

Do we really want to know the weather forecast in Kalkan? All we ever get told is how lovely it is sipping G and T on balconies (sun shining, waves lapping, birds twittering etc), while we on the other hand are slaving away at our desks, rain pouring down the windows!
